View Full Version : Environment: Forest of Hopeless
endi2 06-02-2003, 08:55 AM This is an allegorical picture of the hope and hopeless.
Sometimes the man think: "there is no hope, I am hopeless" but he is the edge of the "Forest of Hopeless".

Oh thanks... I want only show: Blender is a very good program.
Hi!
Nice, well, I don't really like the background (the "moon"'s look)... but you're really a creative and talented and fast artist!
the foreground is nicely done (trees! wow!)
I may have added thoses fingers that try to catch you and drown you into dispair... you know? fingers of mist crawling through the trees, heading towards that hopeless man.
But I'm not you :)
Ciao
Dani
edit: what's our technique for modelling trees? lot's of proportional editing?

Hey that looks great, I like it! The texturing is awsome, it looks kind of theatrical
Did you use some sort of render-filter to make it look so painted?
Crits- You should work more on the transition between the trees and the ground I think, to make them blend more together. Also then name of it. I may be wrong but shouldn't it be hopelessness. It sounds kinda cut off.
Good work:thumbsup:

Endi, yet again you haved amazed me with your talents with Blender. God until the wireframe appeared I could have sworn it was a painting.
The detailing in the trees is astounding, no imperfections in the texture work either, superb.
Please keep on inspiring me,
Sonix.

A beautiful artistic work once again, endi.
When I first saw the image, my browser window was resized small and I didn't see the blender logo on the right corner. I was thinking to myself "wow, endi does great paintings as well as CG", until I realised it *was* CG. It's a brilliant texturing style.

Thanks for all.
There is no special "paint-render", this is a simple render of the Blender. :) The original tree texture looks like a paint, so the paint-like coming from here.
The tree modelling was very simple. I start with a low poly tube and I make its UV. Then I make a random-subdiv (called "fractal subdiv in Blender). So it is has rough surface. Finally I screw the tube sequences randomy.
So now I have screwed, rough surfaced trees.
(Sorry for my bad english.)

My favourite fantasy painter is Rodney Matthews (www.rodneymatthews.com).
I know, my style is not original in all.

i agree, blender is a good program, just it's harder to get a good finish than using max, maya or lightwave.

It's a nice image but the forest is pretty dull. I think a larger variety of trees would help.
