Some very cool CG news...especially for ZBrush.

This thread (http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=011231) at ZBC shows Pixolator (Ofer) testing the new animation feature. It is also a test of the coming Displacement map generation and enhanced texturing abilities. Very promising stuff. That bad boy Dino on there is low poly too!

Enjoy. :bounce: :applause:

I think the animation looks like it might be a solution to both subpixel displacement rendering and to creating the illusion of muscle moving under skin, since the object is re-skinned over the moving z-spheres frame to frame.

I remember talking with the Zbrush guys at Macworld Expo, the whole lack of animation is what kept me from using Zbrush... i might just have to check them out now! :)

I have heard that they are using a "special version" of ZBrush on the next LOTR film.
That should help people open their eyes about ZBrush...:)

Well, as far as I know...that is not true. Just because I am assuming the movie long since finished. I could be wrong though. The truth is Dave Cardwell of Weta Digital IS using the newer version for its Multi-Million poly object handling....thats right...Multi...million...and for its unique Hi poly to low poly custom displacement conversion. Hard to explain so go look here (http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=011114) and here. (http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=010822).

Enjoy!
PS. Its possible they are using it for King Kong...maybe...

The new displacement mapping is being used in conjunction with low-poly models...a feature that is sure to have many many applications in the CG world. Coupled with the animation capabilities that are now being exhibited the next version shall be something to look forward to very much. And to think it is a free upgrade to all registered ZBrush owners. :)
