View Full Version : EIAS 6.5 under Windows Vista?
futagoza 08-18-2008, 08:10 AM Hi all,
Does anybody know if EIAS 6.5 will work under Windows Vista. The reason why i´m asking is that over the weekend my beloved little iMacG5´s shows display issues, argh!
So i´m forced to buy me a new machine soon.
Another question i have is, is it also possible to run EIAS (6.5) and Silo with an integrated graphics chip, like the Intel Graphic Media Accelerator 3100? If so, is the performance ok for hobby usage?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Regards
Stefan

I believe it should. I have successfully run the 3dToolkit (version 4?) and 7.0.1 under vista home premium. I don't see why 6.5 wouldn't work as well.

Thanks Ross!
The reason why i asked for Vista was because Dell offers only machines with Vista nowadays and i want to be sure that EIAS 6.5 runs when buying a Dell machine, while the other machine i´m also looking into is one i can choose various components from and can also order with XP. So that should be no problem i think.

I only had the 3DToolkit when I purchased my HP DV9000t laptop about a year ago. The toolkit Modeler wouldn't work initially. After downloading a ton of Windows updates, it began to work just fine. When I upgraded to 7.0.1, it installed without a hitch and has been very stable. I do have to turn off Cleartype to see the rulers in Modeler.
The only drawback to having EIAS installed on a laptop is the dongle. I have attached a lanyard from a flash ROM to mine to make it harder to lose.
If I had a choice, I would have gone with XP, but I've gotten used to Vista now, so it's not much of an issue.

This is one thing i hope i can manage in the future as a "Mac Dummie", updating and finding the right drivers/software components etc. when dealing with a PC. ;)
