not that I have found. what I usually do is convert it in quicktime or FCP.
but I don't know on this one.
of course you could probibly do it with some sort of shader.

Couldn't you just render normal and edit in photoshop, I remember seeing something about a black and white plugin for PS but can't remember where sorry...

You wouldn't need a plugin in photoshop... just desaturate...
PS is not gonna work to well in a movie
the answer looks to be no unless some C4D god wants to answer this for us.
ohh yeah there is deffinitely a way to fake it all you have got to do is figure it out. Anything is possible.

You could desaturate an animation in AE, Premier (I think), or any number free or shareware compositing applications. If you really must have B&W output from Cinema don't use any color in your scene!

Render the movie as usual as a QuickTime with a nondestructive codec (Photo JPEG, best settings, grayscale).
Open the movie in QuickTime player and choose export where you can set a new codec such as Sörensen etc. Voila!
Those of you who have not yet bought QuickTime Pro are out of luck but if you're that cheap maybe 3D work is not for you ;)

Hmm, I think there was a plugin somewhere on here that was like having photoshop filters. There may be a desaturate there.

Simply use only b/w textures and no colored lights in Cinema :D

If you download the C4D C++ SDK ( http://www.plugincafe.com/sdk_downloads.asp ) then that comes with an after effect which gives B&W output and should work for movies aswell :)

well i was just wondering if there was a different way that is why i asked if cinema could do it....i have been rendering and the turning b+w in quicktime.......the difference in doing that or just using black and white shaders and lights is really significant cause you lose some subtle effects that you may not ever see unless you make all you black whites and grays based on values.... thanks again people

There's also a plugin called pleasentville-Videopost which can do b/w:

This can also be easily done with DPNoiseAdder in the DPack Complete Package: http://www.the3ddesigner.de/

Have you tried to just render out a Quicktime image?
Render settings -> Save -> Format -> Quicktime (Whatever) -> Options -> (Dropdown) Grayscale.
Did someone mention this already?
