View Full Version : Mental Ray Global Illumination Pass??

Hey,

Im trying to render out to passes with Mental Ray for Maya 4.5 and I have to major problems. First of all, if I have final gather and global illumination on, then the diffuse pass comes out looking really messed up. I assume the reason for this is that I need to render out a global illumination pass?? If that is the case, thats cool except that my next problem doesnt really allow for that :argh:

The second and biggest problem is that when I try to render out to layers or to passes in MR, it starts to render and shows the batch render, but never actually renders anything. I've tried rendering to passes with the most simple scenes and it still doesnt work. According to the MR documentation, all I need to do is setup passes in my maya Render Globals and it should work for MR. Well, thats definitely not the case. If anybody else has run into this problem and knows a way around it, please help!!!:buttrock:
