View Full Version : Character/Env: Scifi cyborg female
giantrobot 06-01-2003, 06:27 PM Phew, finished this just last night in time for entry in Expose.
I have been working on this for a while, here is the WIP link:

As always, I would love to keep going on it to make it better, but deadlines are deadlines. My original intent was to have it seem like there were hundreds of these "Routers", but that would have taken eons to render :)
Here you go:

Good!...I like it!..but everything seems to be very clean..it's the effect you want?
By the way, what software did you use?

Thanks-
Yup, I was trying for super clean and shiny. Most of what I have done and what I see being done is gritty and real, which is cool, but I wanted something different. This is meant to be a robot/cyborg communication center, so I thought the hyper-clean look fit...all glisten-y and pristine.
I started in Maya but I enjoy Max's polytools more so I started over in 3dsmax 5.1, MJpolytools and the Brazil test renderer. For the final shot a great guy named Martin helped me by rendering the large image. I will post a detail (and wires if folks want) soon.

That keyboard looks kinda like the kind off of Final Fantasy: The Movie... I like the over-all feel... Keep it up!

being a close friend of giantrobot i may be biased, but THIS IMAGE IS AWESOME!!! it's cool to see your friends grow and get better and better. giantrobot has taught me more than anybody else about CG stuff. Looks like it's time for some more lessons!
Good luck getting this in.

nice work, giantrobot. I like the sci-fi look a lot. I don't know what u can do to make that better, maybe try some different compositions if u have time to do more renders?

Great job- the overall color pallette is outstanding. Nice contrast, lighting and you didn't overdo the blooms and fx. I also like the really hard surface environment with the cool soft skin. Hope to see it in Expose!:)

I like the idea, and it is very nice!
Some things I saw right away was the blur in the distance seemed too strong. It looks like it's supposed to be much farther away than it is. That's of course besides how shiney it is. I think it would look much better if you used at least some dirt.
I am liking your work though. Very nice. :)
