Hi there,

how does Softimage handle the price of the updates?
I read there is a new Version XSI 7.
But I cant found an update price ?!

How Softimage handle the prices in last years ?

I have massive Problems with the Trial and the license Server. I cant start the demo at the first day no second time :-(
This problems normaly ?

This is a worse impression at first look to XSI :-(

perhaps you'd get a better response here: http://community.softimage.com/index.php
(regarding your problems)

as to the trial, I installed it and was up and running immediately with no problems. <shrugs>

Prices etc are best asked at sales@softimage.com
Only way to get something reliable and guaranteed is to get it from an email with softimage.com or avid.com in it.
You could also get in touch with your local reseller, can probably find who it is from Avid's pages.

To start the Trial, use the XSI 7 shortcut on the desktop, or click
Start > All Programs > Softimage Products > SOFTIMAGE XSI 7.0 > XSI Advanced.

The "XSI Essentials" shortcut does not work with the 7.0 Trial.

If the Trial still won't start, please check the license server status:

- Start the License Manager (click Start > All Programs > Softimage Products > License Manager).
- What is the Server Status?

- If it is "License server stopped"
Click Start Server
Try and start the Trial.

- If it is "License not installed"
Click Server > Get Trial License.
Try and start the Trial.

If you still cannot start the Trial, please send support@softimage.com the SPM server log (C:\spm\spm.log). Also, generate a request code and send it too.

To generate a request code:
- Click Get License
- Click "Manually install licenses from an existing file or generate a license request code", and click Next
- Click "I do not have a license file and would like to request one from Softimage", and click Request
- Click Save
- Send me the request code (by default, the .req file is saved in C:\spm)

"...I think I'm interested for Essential and so I dont try Advanced!"

XSI Essentials and Advanced are identical, except that Advanced had additional MentalRay Rendering nodes, and Behavior which is a seperate product.
