Ok i have created my own custom brush panel with my own tweaked brush variants.
Here is the problem i have the above set up at my work and would like to tranfer my brush panel with tweaked varients to my Painter program (same version) at home.

I managed to tranfer the brush panel but my custom variant tweakes where not transferd.

What files should i be looking for to grab and bring home??

Thanks!

Hi,

The "panel" you refer to is called a Custom Palette.

When we drag a brush variant icon into a Custom Palette, the icon is actually the brush category icon and when we click the icon, it tells Painter to:

Load the brush library,
Select the brush category, and
Select the brush variant with the settings present when the icon was added to the Custom Palette.

The icon is not the brush variant, in other words.

In order to allow the icon to do its job on your home computer, you'll need to have all of the pertinent folders and files placed in the same locations on your home computer as on the work computer.

Since you don't say what Painter version you're using, it's not possible to tell you exactly which folders and files these will be or where to find them.

You'll need to tell us exactly what Painter version you're using including patch/Update number if one has been installed.

If you're working in Corel Painter X through X.1, it'll help if you also tell us the name of the Workspace where these custom brush variants are located.

Thanks for the Painter version info. It makes a big difference which version it is.

Since you don't say which Workspace you've got the custom brush variants in on your work computer I'll just have to let you figure out that part.

You'll need to copy folders and files from two locations on your work computer, then paste them into the same locations on your home computer.

To transfer the pertinent folders and files from your Painter X application/program folder and Painter X User folder at work to your Painter X application/program folder and Painter X User folder at home, do the following:

On your work computer:
First create two new folders somewhere outside of your Painter X application/program folder and outside of your Painter X User folder. Name the two new folders as follows:

Painter X application/program folder
Painter X User folder
Go to your Painter X application/program folder and copy the folder highlighted in bold text below, then paste it into your new empty folder named Painter X application/program folder.

Mac - Applications > Corel Painter X > Brushes > [Brush Library Name]

Windows - Program Files > Corel > Corel Painter X > Brushes > [Brush Library Name]

Then go to your Painter X User folder and copy the folder highlighted in bold text below, and paste it into your new empty folder named Painter X User folder.

Mac - Users > [User Name] > Library > Application Support > Corel > Painter X > [Workspace Name] > Brushes > [Brush Library Name]

Windows - Documents and Settings > [User Name] > Application Data > Corel > Painter X > [Workspace Name] > Brushes > [Brush Library Name]

Copy those two new folders, Painter X application/program folder and Painter X User folder to a CD or DVD.

On your home computer, insert the CD and:Open the folder named Painter X application/program folder, then copy the [Brush Library Name] folder and paste it into the location on your hard drive, highlighted in bold text below:

Mac - Applications > Corel Painter X > Brushes

Windows - Program Files > Corel > Corel Painter X > Brushes

Open the folder named Painter X User folder, then copy the [Brush Library Name] folder and paste it into the location on your hard drive, highlighted in bold text below:

Mac - Users > [User Name] > Library > Application Support > Corel > Painter X > [Workspace Name] > Brushes

Windows - Documents and Settings > [User Name] > Application Data > Corel > Painter X > [Workspace Name] > Brushes
