I've just upgraded from Quad PPC to 8-core MacPro. While AE seems to load and run okay (under emulation, I assume), what sort of issues might I expect?

Also, if I then upgrade to UB CS3, will my older plug-ins still work?

Thanks!

(EDIT: I'm on AE 7 at the moment)

Why under emulation? There is a Mac Version, so you better use it.
PS: No problems here, all plugins work.

CS3 runs intel native and by now most plugins are also available that way. Upgrading them should in most cases be possible at no cost or for a only minor fee. CS3 will however also run in Rosetta if you want it to and thus all plugins should run without upgrading. Be warned, though. CS3 is the last version to be UB so at the latest for CS4 you will have to upgrade them, regardless.

Thanks Mylenium - knew I could count on you! I guess I'll upgrade to CS3 soonish (although the upgrade price in £ is a joke compared to what it is in $, but that's another rant).

Scrimski: AE 7 is PPC code so it doesn't run native under Leopard on a MacPro.

I'm with Mylenium on this one. I bought CS3 Design premium and AE about 9-10 months ago, and have not regretted, since it was my first purchase from adobe. I'm looking towards CS4 aswell, but I guess I'll have to wait until I get an actual intel mac first :P
