Title: Quick Sketch - warrior
Name: Hongji Zhuo
Country: Singapore
Software: Photoshop

Lately I have decided to train another aspect of my drawing/painting skills by going back to drawing using my mechanical pencil, and also painting quick sketches, (also called speed painting i think).

Reason being very simple.. my roots are still not firm enough and i really need to build up some decent skills in conceptual sketches which i'm really lacking now.

So lately i've been looking at Feng Zhu and Jason Chan's dvd tutorials. After looking at how Jason Chan finished his quick sketch under 3 hours, I decided to try myself too. I had so much fun now i think I'll keep on doing these for quite a while. I set my time limit to 3 hours.. but i have a rough start so i only finished at 4 hours

Technical information:
Done in Adobe Photoshop CS 3, wacom tablet, 2104 X 3165 resolution. No reference.

Comments and critques are welcomed :)

Cool stuff! I like that bright lighting and all the warm colors. It seems to lack some detail near the bottom, but I'm not sure if that's really detrimental because you've put enough on the face to create a focal point. And of course, that's a bitchin' sword!

this character looks really cool, but the arms could use some work still, the wrist seems abit too thin:)
otherwise,i really like this piece

Ghotire - thx for your comments. For the bottom its kena intentional and i blurred it too cos its my focus point is on top :)

shadowladyz - hey thx for pointing that out.. i totally agree. zoom in too much something on the hands then didn't see it when zoomed out. Glad you guys liked it.

It is what it is... a quick sketch with some colors and not too polished. Cool Concept though.

the slight tone differences gives the details. You did your art in this mood

in my opinion, but in a very elegant and severe style... inspiring!
