I tried downloading Yafray in the past, but it didn't work. I read something about having to download another file, then go into notepad and change some coding and put it all somwhere. I don't remember. I just gave up on it. Then a few weeks ago I decided to give yafray another try, I just downloaded it, and it worked. Now that I updated to Blender 2.46 when I try to render with Yafray blender crashes.

I don't know anything about compileing scripts or dills or anything like that.

there is some incompatibilities between Blender 2.46 and YafRay 0.0.9 for Windows since they use different versions of the compiler. I think that if you enable XML output in the render panells Blender won't crash. Alternatively you can donwload a Blender 2.46 version compatible with YafRay 0.0.9 from here:

Thanks. I clicked the XML button, and it worked. What exactly does that button do? I hope I'm not creating junk files.

XML - Extensible Markup Language
simply put, enables the information/data to be transferred between the two programs and to include information that is not included in the exporter.
If I remember correctly, the XML file isn't even saved so don't worry about junk files. And if my memory is off and there is a file, it can be deleted after the render.
