View Full Version : Texturing : Realistic Fish Skin

hi all!!
i make a fish in 3ds max (i add picture) and i want to do for him texture something that look realiste if that possibale and in the "texture" job i begain to start learn so if you people can help me i will thank you.
i have idea to put in diffuse map a bmp of fish scale (i hope that like that call it) and also in bump map.
but from were i will get fish scale ?
what you the pro do?

For scales, I would probably use some kind of procedural texture, but if you just want to get a bmp texture, then just grab a camera and go down to your local fish market! I'm sure they won't mind.:D

It has lot's 'O fish textures.

Yeah, I really do need to update that set, as they were tailored for a guy doing deeeeeep sea fish. Those little nightmare guys float'n 'round way down below.

There are some really decent shots of more common fish. I have one in there that is a huge side shot of your most sterotypical fish. Works great for textures. It's fish.jpg i think. I know, real discriptive.

Anyway, hope they could help out some. Keep us posted on your progress.
