Thanks!

Just read Mr Vance's GI tutorial. Highly recommended for those who have struggled with GI (and not just with AR.)

Michael Vance did a one page tutorial for AR that showed with the utmost clarity what each setting did.

Thanks for the kind words everyone and especially Thomas for the encouragement and support and getting me to write this article in the first place. If anyone has any uncertainties about the new R11 GI, let me assure you that it blows the old GI to smithereens. I highly recommend anyone interested to check out the R11 special edition. Here are some of the images I rendered for the writing of the article.

I just downloaded the new issue and skimmed the GI tutorial. It looks really thorough, but I had to tear myself away from it if I'm going to get any work done tonight. Thanks for all the work you put in to this Michael. I still recommend your old GI tutorial (http://www.mvpny.com/RadTutMV/RadiosityTut1MV.html) and have always found it to be the best explanation of how the old AR handled GI.
By the way, would you consider sharing some of the scenes you showed in the tutorial? It would be really helpful to see how they're put together.

Thanks, all, for this issue. I just skimmed it now, it'll make good reading on the plane back from LA. On the plane in (to visit Siggraph and have family fun) I opened Photoshop to do some work, my battery lasted about a half-hour. I should do better simply reading the PDF.
I saw Kai's demo yesterday and the new GI features and render panels look great. But it was just an overview, so having all this material to read will really help me get ready for the new version.

This was my first 3D Attack Magazine to read. It was some great reading... the quality of the text content is high and images is put to good use. The only thing I am missing a bit is that the images in the gallery is lacking from short descriptions from the original creators... would be nice to read something about each image, like render time, methods and tools used or just some background to how it come about.
I am sure to get some more after going through the 2007 collection! Thanks Tavy!

Hey there Jimstein,
Glad to hear that you liked this issue. Usually, the Images in the Gallery have more info. However, most people people don't track the "render time" so that info is always sort of "vague". Anyhow, glad you enjoy the tutorials and articles :)
