CGTalk - Selection question

I'm using Painter X.1 and have a question regarding the lasso selection tool. I was looking for a way to constrain the tool to straight lines only, however, I was unable to get any results. Is there a way to constrain the selection to straight lines like Photoshop's lasso tool, or is there another tool I'm ignorant about.

You could try using the Pen tool. Click the Pen tool in the toolbox. Then click on your image - click to where you want the straight edge to end and continue clicking until the Pen line represents what you want your selection to be. You can convert it to a selection by clicking the 'Convert to Selection' button on the Pen's property bar.
