Sounds believable... If it's true... that matte painting tool sounds really interesting.

Sounds impressive! Was hoping for some more/enhanced modelling tools but they might be in there too. Looks like a good update. Im a vray man now but the improved GI can't hurt :-)

I yearn for details from Maxon , but this sounds good:
NLA(over due, finally), Collada support (yesss!), ghosting--- GimmeGimme
also online update does sound like they plan to do minor bugfixes more often--

"- Completely New Global Illumination
Take advantage of the most current algorithms and computer hardware with the all new easy to use Global Illumination engine. This technology delivers heightened flexibility to achieve ultra-realistic results with a minimum of setup time, even for animations."
ah, did they solve the Ies lights intensity issue?

That is a snazzy looking box for a fake, of course, I suppose someone with enough willpower to write such a fake article, could surely have the knowledge of CG/graphics to make a new box.
But is looks clean anyway!

How did this guy get the exclusive info from Paul Babb and yet no hint of this anywhere else on the web? I guess we'll have to wait...

I'm upgrading for sure if true, sounds fantastic. I have been looking at getting VrayforC4d for a while, but I would rather not because it is expensive.
I suppose, since it is an upgrade, from R10.5 to R11 shouldn't be more then $600.
I don't understand though, if the rendering engine is updated, I suppose that means AR3? Or the core engine? From the looks of the *dubious* article, AR is no more. I would like it this way, it will be neater, and cheaper, just doing away with it. Kinda like Modo.

I'm so excited!

It's true :)
I've put together a 30 minute video of me playing with some of the new toys over at C4D Cafe.

I doubt that AR is included in the Core. ANd as far as i know AR is 100$ less expensive than VrayC4D. It looks like it has great features, on the CA side. I donot know about how fast it can be being 64 bit on the Mac. ProjectionMan very smart by Maxon.
Now what about that PDF of v11?

Both are updated. Advanced Render 3 is a completely new development, and resembles in no way to Advanced Render as you used to know it. It renders faster and at a higher quality. But the render speed "outside" of AR 3 has also been improved.

I think you need to check your figures again.

It's not (noticably) faster, but it allows you to address much more memory. It's only interesting for larger projects (think several Gigabytes).

:) ok dude 200 more.
I see for larger scenes, wonder if frezze bones has been implemented in these version.
But it sounds like the other 3d developers are gonna come out with newer strategies.

This is an excellent overview thankyou. You're up very late to see the news in 3D Kiwi?

Way to go, Maxon - glad to see the new features being introduced!

PS - What's their upgrade policy on this - I just upgraded to v10.5 about 1 / 2 weeks ago?
I donot know about how fast it can be being 64 bit on the Mac.
64 bit on intel Macs is 10-20% faster than 32 bit; 64 bit on PPC is as fast as 32 bit.
Best regards,
wbj
Check with your local MAXON office or distributor. There is a grace period for most purchases done shortly before announcement of a new version.

Ah, that's what you call development at MAXON: a "cup of coffee". I see... ;)
Anyway, I must have gotten it wrong then. But then, there was A LOT of information to swallow. R11 is just too solid a release to keep it all in your head.
The 10% to 20% percent are the advantage you get from using the additonal 64 bit registers. It's not realy related to the general speed up we got, just an additonal freebe ;)

Hi Srek, i have a scene of 84MB and 1GB of RAM how can i benefit from the 64 bit in OSX?
Do i have to put more memory RAM or going for 64bit could improve my rendering?
Besides all the tips for a faster Rendering just wondering how can i get advantage of 64 bit.
Thanks, Edgard.
CINEMA 4D 32 bit on OS X supports up to 4 GB. So if you only have 1 GB installed it does not make any difference at all if you use the 64 bit version.
It can only make a difference if the scene needs more than 4 GB of RAM for rendering or editing. How much memory the scene needs can not be derived from the filesize, the two are completely independent.
Cheers
Björn
Geroge - I'm confused by your earlier comment
"ah, did they solve the Ies lights intensity issue?"
I didn't think Cinema supported IES lights?

hi,
actually it does, if you convert them to bitmaps.
i've read an old XL7 tutorial of "how to" about this.
but you get only the correct light distribution, without the correct-per-light-energy-fall-off. you'll have to guess it.
the problem gets bigger when you add more & more lights.
