View Full Version : Play at exact rate
ScotchTapeWorm3D 08-09-2008, 04:24 PM In lightwave there is a button that when you press, it skips frames on the preview, that way you can watch your preview animation at the exact rate that it should be played at. This is handy for scenes that start slowing down your machine.
My question is, how can I do this in blender. Everytime I have something animate, the preview goes so slow. I need to get that fixed.

The bottom right of a 3d window in the header, there is a little render button that allows you to render the viewport (it may be hidden, so you'll have to drag your 3d window bigger). If you control + left click it creates an animation preview with OpenGL... this should solve your problem.

That goes just as slow
I think what you're looking for is frame skipping?
I cant recall of the top of my head right now, if there was an option for that, or not,
but i do remember you could set the playback speed from the timeline window:
Playback >>> Set Frames/Sec (iirc that, or something like that).

Yeah frame skipping. Where instead of playing 25 frames a second on the preview, it will skip every other frame, or however it needs, that way everything goes the correct speed.

The option you are looking for is called "Sync" and can be found in the "Anim/Playback" context of the Scene buttons.

Thank you! I always thought that was just for syncing with audio.
