Im sort of confused why one needs to be well versed in 3dsmax in order to creat game content? A good artist can make game content in wings3d just as well as he can in max. sorry just nitpicking.

an artist does not need to be well versed in 3ds max to create game content, but he does need to be well versed in 3ds max to create game content for blizzard.
i'm sure if the artist is that amazing they will retrain him to use max, but why not try to get max artists first who don't need any extra training?

Blizzard is a max house, probably has something to do with licenses or crap. Just a thought though.

yes. Id software, which used to be a max house, has switched to a lightwave and maya pipeline. other studios like capcom and valve are using XSI.

I'm sure their cinematic department would get a great deal to switch to another app, but if MAX is already working well for them and they like it, why switch?
