Hi..
Try converting the skin wrap to skin, then save and open the file.

try unlinking the skinwrap object or set the inheritance flags off.

I've had this problem before also, unfortunately, I never found a workaround I was very happy with. Now I just try to avoid skin wrap if possible, it's slow and unreliable

If you could upload an example or describe a step by step way to this problem, it would help us understand what the problem is and how to solve it. Otherwise it's just guessing.

p.s - Have you tried doing the same thing in an earlier version of max?

I had this problem before, so hopefully it's the same solution. You have to go back to the mesh's reference pose and actually reset the skin wrap to reinitialize it (the actual reset button under skin wrap). It's really annoying. The best way to avoid this is to bake it down to skin.

Do you use the symmetry modifier anywhere in your setup? If so, try to place a "turn to mesh" modifier directly below every symmetry modifier. Editable meshes seem to have a more stable triangulation than editable polys and therefore don't force the stack to be reevaluated if small changes in the triangulation occur. As a result, the welding process of the symmetry modifier becomes more stable and problems with skin and skin-wrap may disappear.
