Hey boys and girls..been busy tryin to get this guy done for Expose'. But unfortunatley I wont make it for this one..still way too much detail work to do..and I dont have time for an interesting composition. Oh well next one. But regardless here's where I got his head so far, I apologize for the crap ass compression..I will get a site soon and get higher res images up..

Anyways lots more work left on him. I havent touched the ears yet..I got the base bump on, kinda a leathery skin, still got to paint all the wrinkles yet. The colors are almost done, still got to add moles, blemishes, age spots..etc.. Im re-working his hair so its not included in this render right now.. The eye;s im quite happy with, think they have alot of life to them? So any suggestions would be great..thanx

and a close-up of the eye, rember I havent painted in the wrinkles in under the eyes and lids..soon..This is also the closest you'll ever be to his eye..So the texures dont have to be too much more detailed..

and an overall one, this is older, but model hasnt really changed much. Im just throwin this up incase anyone hasnt seen him in my past post;s.

twitchy- thanx, when I get my site up, prolly next month, ill get some tutorials up...

PAnick-what do you mean by (sp?) I havent checked the polycount, but its quite high, there's over 450 objects in the scene on him alone, and most are built for subdivision...so the polycount is crazy

Poopinmymouth- we'll see if I get front page, I hope so, but after I get it done...

nice work, not too fond of the proportions of the lower body. legs seem a little fat and puffy for the body. I think it would have more impact with tapered legs rather than the cylinder elephant style you have going atm.

ears seem a little squashed, be cool to see them made more detailed with smoother contours that run deeper. babble babble babble. but your onto texturing so this is probably irrelevant.

real cool work... really like it.

hey guys and girls thanx for the replies. I was going for an elephant like foot and lower leg, so guess I nailed it then. I might look at re-touching them. I also am going to be strengthening the ears a bit more too, pull the points a bit more, get them looking deeper.. just havent gotten to that part yet...soon though....

Cool! Nice texturing so far, especially his neck + nose.

I do think though, the legs + feet (as mentioned) don't fit the character at all. Mostly the feet, ugh, no offense, but it's obvious (seeing the rest of the character and all the additional stuff like his clothing) that you can do much much better than this. He looks mean and a tad bit evil > so I would say make him skinny and slick, a real killer. Now I get a hunch of JarJar binks and let me tell you: that is not, I repeat NOT good.

Keep it up, and this'll become glorious!

wow so many replies...

dom-thank you, the nostrils are kinda like camal nostrils, always runin..so I just stained the skin a little to get this accross.

cutepixie-glad you like the feet. Seems; like its a mixed opinion on them..being a mechanic who never wears any boots I wanted him to have thick feet, but I may end up re-thinkin it...

p0lym0rph-thank you, yay its skin!!

Onno-thanx for you comments, I keep looking at the feet tryin to make up my mind what to do with them, as I mentioned he is a mechanic, and dosent wear any boots, so needs to have thick feet. He's also not suppose to be evil, even though he looks kinda evil. He's actually just a workaholic, who bust;s his ass building and repairing space ships..

Jeffo-thanx for the kind words, and I hope the textures turn out in the end, But I will just keep plugin away at them untill they are right..or untill I get fed up...lol....

ok thanx everyone so far, ill try to get an update up today, going to see If I cant come up with a composition for Expose' with what I got today, been trying to get the whole character done for it, but I will just focus on doing a really nice head and chest composition...so I;ll get that up tonight...going to be a long day...

Hey Spirit

You improove with each character, that's really good. I suggest using different shades/tones for different parts of your body. Like our arms, what is exposed to the sun gets tanned while the rest remains pale, and the part exposed to the sun is usually less soft. Anyway your character might work in the depths of giant underground city, but different tones for cheeks and what not is always good:) Also I think you need to have some colors that differ for the clothes, don't limit yourself to the same ol leather brownish grayish stuff, play with the surface's properties, emulate rubber, cloth, waterproof stuff, and try a bunch of different colors for each:)

hey its back wow...thanx guys. Well he actually does live in an underground city, in a little mechanic bay. So he's not really very tanned at all...but ill take some of your other suggestions into consideration..

well...well....looks like your on your way.......I'd like to see some color along the top of the head ....maybe some tan or brown spots....??? any way I like lots.......... whats the black bit by the nose for?

Spirit2029
06-22-2003, 07:50 PM
the black bit from his nose is kinda like stains, like camels and rhinos, weird drippy crap from their noses.. I dont want to add tooo much more color on the top, but still have to add imperfections in the skin, blemishes, moles, exc.. Still a little more bump to paint too...
