Wirmpolter 05-30-2003, 10:14 PM Hey there all im new to doing car modeling, i did the fiat500 polymodel tutorial as far as it goes and got bored with that model, so i have started to build the new bmw 2004 5 series car, and i wanted to know how do i go about doing the headlights?
thanks, like how to you make them look like actual headlights???

Look at photos of the headlights, try to take them apart in your mind, and then model them. That's the best way to go. If you actually model the reflectors, all the facets, and of course, the platsic diffusion covers, you will get the most realistic results...
Just my thoughts.

Modelling is indeed a good way to do it. Keep in mind though that you will need a good enviroment for the headlights to reflect, else they won't look good. A good HDRI image does miracles for the reflection.
You can also model them AND use a photographed headlight texture for the finer details.
