So I have long held the belief that there is no copy and paste function in Painter which, as an aspiring comic writer/artists, is unbelievably frustrating.
Hi,
There definitely are ways to copy and paste any selected imagery, Layer, Shape, Text Layer, or Text Shapes (anything on the Canvas or above the Canvas, and anything that can be copied to the clipboard from outside Corel Painter).
I have heard rumblings that this is not true, and I need to know how to paste text so as not to need another (one would think) arbitrary program to do that for me.
Any help would be greatly appreciated and possibly save me a lot of time and/or money.
NOTE: When working with Text you may find that Corel Painter slows down, especially when working with a lot of text. In order to help prevent problems, save frequently, using File > Save As for the first save, then File > Iterative Save for following saves. File > Iterative Save will add a series of numbers at the end of the file name. Saving frequently will help you prevent loss of work and using File > Iterative Save, if anything goes wrong, you should be able to open the last saved version and continue working.
Also, after saving your files, close Painter every hour or so (sooner if the program slows down too much), wait a few minutes, then launch Painter and continue working. This can help Painter 'let go of memory" and keep the program running better. It that doesn't help enough, save your files, close Painter, and reboot your computer, then launch Painter and continue working.
To copy and paste a Text Layer from your working image into another image:
1. Open both the working image and the receiving image.
2. In the working image, click the T key to activate the Text tool, then type the text.

3. Click the F key to activate the Layer Adjuster tool and with the Text Layer still highlighted in the Layers palette, click and drag it onto the receiving image. You'll see a rectangle indicating the Text Layer is ready to be "dropped" into the receiving image.

4. Let go and you'll see the Text Layer is now in both your working image and the receiving image, in the same location above the Canvas relative to the Canvas' upper left corner.

To copy and paste text from outside the program into a receiving image in Corel Painter:
1. Highlight and copy the text (i.e. from a text editor).
2. Open the receiving image in Corel Painter.
3. Click the T key to activate the Text tool, then position the cursor where you want the text to appear.
4. Use Ctrl+V (Windows) or Command+V (Mac) to paste the text.
