Awesome, indeed almost a painting. My only crit would be that the glow to the left seems to be coming from the wolf itself instead of from the lightsource (which seems to be at the right).
Ow and the nostrills are too thick, they don't seem to be hairs but more little strands of... something.
Besides those two points it's an amazing job

Very nice! I think the wolf's fur is a bit too long, though. It's tail and ears look really fat. But still, excellent work! Way better than what I could do.

Very good!!..I like very much the fur...it is easy to use Maya Fur? I'm a 3dsmax user...and I'm thinking about using Maya... :)

hey, consider toning down the high-contrast areas around the inside of the ear and face, it will help the eyes pop more, and give a easier focus of attention.

That is absolutely beautiful! It makes the wolf I am working on look like it needs alot more work. The only crit I have is in the thickness in the tail. Actually I think after looking at it again that it just needs the hair to extend straight out from the tail more so then back towards the tip.
Great Job:applause:
Wow, awesome.... looks sooooo much like a painting! :applause:

is 'paint effect' a shader for Maya?
wow it looks absolutly fabulous!
Stimpy
05-30-2003, 06:27 PM
the texture on his face looks a bit too symetrical to me, especially in his current pose.
maybe you should alter one side a tiny bit to make it appear more natural.
otherwise really nice job

Don't worry about if the wolf looks like the source of light. It adds to the piece if the wolf itself has a subtle glow. It could inspire a certain vibrancy, an almost dreamlike quality to the render. I do agree with popping out the eyes some more. Keep on truckin'!

This looks great- has a very painterly feel to it. Only thing to crit is the whiskers do look a little too thick (IMO). But still fantastic Job!!!
it's nice to see you posting up your work again. I really like the feel of it.

yes, maya fur is VERY easy to use. make the switch!
no, paintFX is not a shader. You use the artisan tool to literally "paint" effects into the world.

Sweet work. :airguitar
The overall idea of the picture seams to be incomplete though. The head is of a mature woolf, but if you look at its behind it appears to be a cub with a puppy tail. same is the expression on woolf's "face". You might want to change(lower) the camera angle and make the hind legs more sound. The craftsmenship of the work is outstanding though...:buttrock:

if you lowered the density of the hair on the ears they might not look as fat, but you only notice it if you are carefully inspecting it .

Hey buddy i like your wolf image. I was just wondering how long did it take you to render this image...because from what i know of, paint fx and fur takes a long time to render and slows your computer down a LOOOOTTTTTTTTTT....ooops..hehe..I dont use it as much, but since i got Maya5 now, fur and paintfx is a breeeez. So it is pretty cool now.
Anyways just a question because i wanted to see how long your rendering took with fur and paint FX.thanks

Wow.. Amazing work :applause:, needs to be in exposé.
the neck isn't right looks like it has a hump. it should be the shoulders that are slightly like that. the wolf is "glowing" spoils the picture and make it look just slapped in there although everything else seems good. The highlights are too "white" they should be blended in the the rest of the wolf in u know what i mean. especially the ears. again spoils the picture.

I must really say this: 'IT IS REALLY GOOD, I WOULD HAVE APPROVED THAT THERE IS AN ADDITION TO THE SIZE IN THE FUR AND THE EARS BUT TO SEE THAT THE LANDSCAPE SHOWS THAT IT END OF AUTMN THUS BEGINING OF WINTER AND THIS IS HOW THEY REALLY LOOK (I KNOW BECAUSE I USED TO HAVE ONE)'
