I'm looking to buy a laptop to give me a bit more mobility with Painter, but unsure of what spec I should be looking for.

I like the Tablet type with touch sensitive screen and wondered if anyone use one?

I was looking at this one, http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.203-7567.aspx (http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.203-7567.aspx) but I can't find out anything to do with the pen; think it is hard wired to laptop in use http://www.paintermagazine.co.uk/forum/images/smiles/icon_confused.gif

Can anyone make any suggestions, advice or recommendations please?

Thanks for your time!

My personal preference is to not have any input device tied strictly to a laptop. I prefer to have a device I can unplug and use elsewhere if I want. Putting it all in one product is never wise, since if something happens to it, you can't use anything on it at all. Having the tablet as a separate device can also allow more flexibility.

Ive been using a tablet forever .. tried the touch screen and found it a little odd being so close to the screen. Im back on the tablet nice to be able to sit back from the screen. Maybe if you go straight to the touch screen it could be good.

Yeah, same here. I love being able to sit back, sit in any position, or put the tablet on my lap or anywhere I want. I also love being able to take the tablet with me and plug it into any computer as long as I have the driver with me on a small USB drive or something (or simply download it from the manufacturer's site).

I have been using this Gateway Tablet PC since I started digital painting. I find it hard to move to a removable tablet. You can paint right on the screen. However, I am finding limitations now. As you can see from my post in this forum about setting the pressure sensitivity for the pen. I cannot figure out how to get the real feel of a pen or brush. I do most of my work with blender and air brush. So if you visit my gallery you will see the limits.

ah,

I've ever see this brand before with the nice spec of course,
but I'm not sure that PC tablet (laptop) can control on the sensitivity like on the tablet,

It'll be nice if u looking a laptop with better spec without touch screen, and buy the tablet separately,
Hope can get the VGA card more then 256Mb, because we can see more detail on our work,
or maybe we have something wrong we can see it easily,
