hello,
i'm trying to get a realistic reflection off a volumetric light on teh windsheild of a car. Obviously i can't get it to work.
I've tried reflection maps and image based lighting.. but they didn't help either basically because it only works when teh camera is in a vcertain position, and anyway it just doesn't look good.
As you can see below the reflection is just a smooth specular thing. I'm assuming that volumetric light is a post render effect which is why it isn't represented in the reflection.
Can anyone please guide me as to what i need to do?

cheers

Does that light have a volumic property?

Well, actually the light is reflecting perfectly fine. Think about.... here you have a single light, shining down on the car from directly overhead, and the light has a large cone angle. So only the 'thicker' part of the volumic is reflecting in the car.

If you wan't nice reflections, just a single light won't get you there. Instead try changing the lighting to strips of fluoroscent lights or something.

Or you could create a light probe from the environment and use that for HDR lighting.
