Wow good job. All the small details really sell the sence of scale. If you're still looking for something to add maybe put some statues on the posts at the sides of the stairs? Easier said than done though :) Can we have a closeup of the top of a pillar?

My only critique would be that the red pillar texture looks funky. Not sure if it's the color or what, but it looks to me like it doesn't really fit.

I would have to agree that the color of the columns is distracting but who knows it might be historically accurate. The model is looking great!

Excellent work. It's pretty much photorealistic. Perhaps add a dim fill light under the roof; the shadow is too black under there.

Are you doing this professionally ? If so, I'm curious to know how much demandthere is for historical renderings?

Maybe you could add something in the steps to vary it up a tad. And also lower the size of that door, kinda makes it look like a hut (or provide a point of reference such as a person so that we can compare size, the steps don't quite work for me for this matter)

good work man !

Thanx for your comments.

Gatling: the door is supposed to be 3.5 meters high at least, it could even be higher than that. Each step of the stairs are 10 centimeters high (I tried to be as accurate as possible).

Papostol: No i am just a hobbyist but i really wish there was demand for such historical work.

I will render a new version of the temple with another texture for the columns (white or grey marble or stucco). I found only a few exemples of roman buildings with colored columns outside and just wanted to try it this way to see how it looked, funky and distracting apparently....

Here is the white render... Let me know what you think about the color of the columns on this one before i go any further. Should i stick with white or red ?

I think a red, blue gold colour scheme would be best, I think thats what the Romans used (correct me if I'm wrong please). Also the model really needs something on the two prongs on either side of the stairs it looks a little empty at the moment.

I love the render!! :scream:

:hmm: My only thing is the texture for the columns are repetitive. Very nicely done!

TheLegend299: blue red scheme would rather be found on a greek temple, but you re right, temple were painted with shiny colours...
I am fixing the pillar texture repetition and working on what i can put on the posts.

I'm starting to agree with TheLegend299. I think something needs to be added ~ either a statue or addition artifact around the entrance, or maybe some detail up in the triangular area ~ like the parthenon. I've got a few pictures if your interested at my site's pic directory (http://www.bubba-x.com/dc/Default.asp?dirname=nashville\senery), but I'm sure you can find better too! :)

The detail of the crests [for the columns] are wonderful! Is crest the right word? Either way... the top part. I bet it isn't, but just look at me go trying to name schtuff! LOL ...It's been so long since the study of column anatomy! :D

I definetly prefer the red render, adds some variation into it. The gray render just looks too monotone, and my eyes tend to wander away

Again, very VERY nice
