Eh hem.

Listen, don't be so hard on yourself. We ALL started at the beginning. It actually looks pretty good for a first try. I've seen much, much, much worse....like my first head...hehe.

Anyway, I'd say beyond learning the basics of the modeling tools, which you seem to have a certain grasp on, you really just need proper reference. Modeling heads and really any anatomy, is all in the proportions. Really.

Just grab an anatomy book or some references from the internet, and keep playing with your mesh.

I highly recommend these threads:

If you can stomach it, read 'em both from start to finish and you will advance very far in a short period of time.

Also, go here:

READ THE ENTIRE SITE.

Just keep at it, and don't be hard on yourself. Be inspired to be better. Always.

Keep at it!

Have you ever modeled a head before? Because if this is your first one, then it's really not too bad. Sure, it has its flaws, but I've seen much worse interpretations of the human head than this. Some of the people who made the abominations even thought they looked good! The fact that you know there's plenty of room for improvement indicates that you'll get better as long as you keep practicing:)

(but next time you should probably post in the WIP forum;))

Yes, not bad for a first model.

Here's a collection of early models, kind of humorous if you're experienced in 3D, and have looked back at your own early (comparatively-horrible) work...

i´m into 3dsmax since 10 years old(all by myself without teachers or anything, just my curiosity and lots of patience to learn)

i got into maKING faces when 3dsmax4 came out with michael comet tutorial on edit mesh(i didnt knew it existed just 4 u to have an idea) i think i was 14 back then...my 1st face did look quite like the one u have there...and the colour is the same too!

After 8 human faces later, i´m doing Cg-doubles now, but still far away from perfection...altought simetimes even i have an hard time distinguishing the real ones from the fake ones..

keep practicing...is the only way to get any better(Zed, Dark Earth)

The Solid Snake: But weren't you the guy I helped out last week when you were stuck with the 'Joan of Arc' tutorial? Yes, I am quite positive, I showed you how you could make edges invisible.
I guess you've learned a lot in those two weeks since you are now doing CG doubles. :)

Sorry, maybe I was not clear enough, I was reacting to The Solid Snakes post. I've edited my post to make it more clear. He is right about the 'practice' part though!
