I had a lot of fun doing Babe! I really wish I would've had the time to take him further but I had a blast none the less! The base mesh was modeled in Maya, sculpted and textured in Zbrush, and rendered back in Maya with Mental Ray.
Great work everybody! Some really inspiring stuff this month!

It's been the best HMC one so far. Not much stress with a relatively small time inversion. I've got it all recorded but so far I've just put together the head. It's all posted underneath...
To the competition: We've got nothing to lose here but I believe I learned a lot through this, and I hope you did too, because that the only thing that matters...

this was my second hmc,(hmc14 was my first),i really wanted to keep to zbrush this time.i struggled with zspheres ,so i got a simple
box shape figure in zbrush and from there on till the laces i kept to zbrush (and offcourse some photoshop for alphas),
spent the most time with his head,,maybe 60+...but it was worth it,hopefully ill do better heads in the future, also wanted to pose
him but got stuck in some work
special thanx to samarcbz, and others that took part in this competition for helping me out!

First of all, CONGRATULATIONS to all who completed their respective entries, it was really a nice and full of variety topic. Some great entries are there, like them very much !!
About my entry, it was a great experience for me . . no doubt
Learned a lot of new things, some new problems occured in zbrush, those I never faced before, will take care of them in future. First time used zbrush for posing, quite fun doing that, pretty powerful feature, if you know how to use it perfectly.
Also tried my hands on inorganic stuff(props) and those cloth wrinkles are a good study as well.
So, it was a pleasure to take this challenge, enjoyed it very much.
Best Wishes to all the participants.

The 2nd HMC I've managed to finish. That alone is a pretty big accomplishment for me. I've probably learned more about ZBrush during the making of this image then all the rest of the time I've used the program. I suppose the best thing is I've managed to wrap my head around is a proper workflow for ZBrush. That will make it much easier the next time around.
Fantastic work by everyone. These contests are producing better and better results each time.
Special thanks to DDS. I purchased some instructional DVD's that were good but lacked some really critical spots. I studied your Batou vids pretty closely which filled in all the gaps. Thanks a heap for that.
Good luck and take it easy everyone. :D

It has been a good learning and some great fun participating in the modeling challenge after a long time. Some of the other entries have been truly inspiring and at times even intimidating
Had bigger plans. Due to some pathetic time management on my side as usual ended short of time:hmm:
There are many unfinished areas. The main idea was to try to capture the moment Ali announced himself to the world by knocking down Sonny Liston in the first round(Liston survived the count only to lose) of their title fight.
Thank you Roberto and everybody else participating and Good luck to everybody.

This has been a great learning experience for me, what with some really inspiring and outstanding works that have been displayed during this challenge.
My effort has been rather half-hearted. I hope to learn and improve my work........looking forward to gain more knowledge from the wonderful work that you people are doing here.
Thanks to you too, Roberto for arranging opportunities like these where one can only gain from such greats.

this was my second hmc,(hmc14 was my first),i really wanted to keep to zbrush this time.i struggled with zspheres ,so i got a simple
box shape figure in zbrush and from there on till the laces i kept to zbrush (and offcourse some photoshop for alphas),
spent the most time with his head,,maybe 60+...but it was worth it,hopefully ill do better heads in the future, also wanted to pose
him but got stuck in some work
special thanx to samarcbz, and others that took part in this competition for helping me out!

Comments:
My model is of Sir Edmund Hillary, the mountaineer and first man to climb Mt Everest with Tenzing Norgay. Not only was he a great mountaineer but a great and humble man who went on to build many schools and hospitals in Nepal. So he is a man to admire and besides a Kiwi :)
There is no photograph of Hillary on the top of Everest, the famous picture you see is of Tenzing that Hillary took, but he didnt think there was time to teach Tenzing how to work the camera. So it was worthwhile for me to recreate Hillarys moment on top of the world.
Great images posted here by other modellers, congrats to everyone who finished :)
Total time for the modelling and research was about 48hrs of which quite a lot of time was spent watching Meats Meyers z brush tutorial DVD. I achieved my purpose in entering the challenge which was to finish a piece in the required time, and to better understand zbrush, I now know how to use transpose and subtools, yay. I am reasonably happy with my progress on the piece, but will set myself a much higher standard of finish next time, and learn to do a proper render. Also I learn from other peoples fantastic work here it might be better and certainly quicker to forego the whole poly modelling route and start directly in zbrush for the organic parts of the model.
cheers everone, its been great fun!

Best Bust: TyShelton - "The Great Bambino"
Best WIP: DDS - "Pele"... I can't get the videos to work right now, but I'll trust they're as awesome as the last series' :)
Best Diorama: Headfirst - "Michael Phelps", for stepping up to the challenge of modeling water in mid-splash.
Best Model: DDS - "Pele"
Special mentions also go out to Farazmobin's Mike Tyson, who I wish I had a second Best Model slot to put him in, and TonyTrout for the crazy amount of climbing gear he made.
Excellent entries all around, guys! I wish I'd kept up with the entries more carefully during the challenge; I probably could've learned a lot.

And here is the BIG ONE:
