Title: Afternoon Delight
Name: Dominic Alderson
Country: United Kingdom
Software: Maya, mental ray, Photoshop
One of my all time favourite vehicles is the Porsche 356. A real classic design with beautiful curves and a level of simplicity often overlooked in modern vehicles.
This composite is a render test as I intend on taking this piece a step further and tracking it into some live footage.
First time I've paid close attention to camera aperture and f-stops whilst recreating the virtual camera and my what a liife saver it is doing this!

wow, great one
only thing is the orange light material (too flat) and the windsheld stickers(too saturated)

Perfect mood, realy great job 5* from me, but what you could do is put sum dirth layer over whole piece, especialy on the glass and tires and parts like that, it would be mouch beter.Could you post some wires, thanks.

Hey Dom, it's Ross..
how are you doing bub?
That image looks bloody fantastic frankly
the ONLY small thing MAYBE.. is the AA sticker does seem to grab a bit more attention that it should, apart from that.. awesome.
oh and just to be anal.. i'd have lowered the Porsche text.. centre it to the page.
that is all.. ahem
Dom its Karl !
Cracking piece of work mate, very realistic and the mood works very well. Hardly anything to crit really...only 2 things (already said before)
AA sticker a bit loud.
Orange bulbs at the front look a bit flat. Just work on the material a bit more.
THose wheels look real tho !
Great job,
Cheers
kiboSVK, Solex, Sceme, Vlada3d, kiboSVK, LouisCho, fayezAlsalkA, karl and Ross - Thanks a lot for the comments and rating really appreciate hearing back from the community
Funny that the orange indicators get the most crit, they were a right bugger to do! At the moment, looking back, they are a little flat (diffused). I tried turning down the opacity but it didn't really help, perhaps more reflectivity is the answer but its difficult because you want to keep a high level of colour in there.
I've done a small update taking into account what has been mentioned already (inc Max's comments below) - Image can be seen here (http://www.cgfolio.co.uk/cgtalk/p356/small_update.jpg)
Thanks for the 4 star rating, and in return here are some wireframes and other images...
P.S. Ross - how's things? Where you at these days??
Karl - Loving the stuff you're doing over at Codemasters, keep it up man - can't wait for F1!!

shadow parts are very dark. if you add a shadow pass together with an ao one, it's preferable you increase the gamma to 2.2 to achive something convincing.
