Many of us use consumer graphics cards rather than the pro ones and it seems like a lottery whether your card will work ok, like a dog or incredibly fast. My intention with this script is to help people make a more informed choice when selecting a new consumer graphics card/system for use with XSI.
NOTE: this isn't the actual BENCHMARK YOUR SYSTEM! thread (that will come later)
If you would like to test the script below or suggest ways to make it more useful/accurate/etc (before I post it for actual benchmarking) I'd love to hear your thoughts. (Including if you think this is a waste of time!)
The idea is that you follow the steps below and then post the FPS result along with your system specs - graphics card, SCREEN RESOLUTION (important), motherboard, system memory, processor/s, OS.
I'm getting 14.8 min/15 max FPS at the moment on an nvidia 9400 GS 512mb at 1400x1050 res. (I'm pretty pleased with this card - it costs about £30-40.) If you have a super rig and are getting the same perhaps this isn't working right.
Thanks for any comments! :)
