Title: Crows
Name: Vladimir Minguillo
Country: Sweden
Software: 3ds max, Maya, Photoshop, VRay, ZBrush

About two weeks ago I saw the movie "Crows Zero" of Takashi Miike, a great movie like almost all his movies!
But this one reminded me in some way my childhood so I decided to give it a try and make some fan-art.

I hope you'll like it.

I like it.

Is everything modelled, or simply the character in the foreground?

I hope he only did not do the background models, or it would be a shame to blur them :)
Great work

I'm going to guess that the background is probably a photo. The border of the image is giving it away for me, plus the slight lighting difference. Also, the background has no depth but a flat defocus.

On the character though, good work. His clothing could use some more definition.

Thank you guys for the comment, I really appreciate it.

SpaXe- Yeah, you guessed right. the background is just a blurred photo!

I hope he only did not do the background models, or it would be a shame to blur them :)
Great work

LOL ... at first i thought this is about "Blue Spring" the masterpiece of "Toshiaki Toyoda" --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WsN-0nUiP5M ... there scenes in this movie which look very simular to your work ... havent seen the new movie of Miike yet, im definitley more the Kitano guy, but anyway i will check this one ^^ ;) ( i loved Gozu !!! )

This is excellent! Can't image why it is not on the front page yet. Fantastic sculpting and shading on the face and nice integration into the image. Only have three minor things I think you could improve on:
1. I really like the composition overall but the cut off head throws it off a bit for me. I know it looks more like a frame of the movie that way, but I think the image could benefit from a little more space above the head.
2. If you added a bit more defined highlights on his eyes I think the character would look more alive and intense.
3. I think the main character is a bit too blurred considering he is the one in focus. A tiny bit more sharpness would separate him a bit more from the background.
But overall outstanding work!

yeah less blur on the main character and a bit more work on the clothes but you've a winner here. :0

Thank you guys for the support!!

boeserWolf- Hey, man. Thank you so much for the link!! the clip looks great and the song can't be better :scream:, you're right seems like "Blue Spring" and "Crows Zero" have some similitudes, so I got to see it!!
Kitano and Chan-wook Park are geniuses and of course "Gozu" is a masterpiece, great avatar!!

Helioz- Thanks for the support and your suggestions, I agree with your suggestions!! Things can always be done better!

friggin good work man! i hope u get all the feedback for this. maybe next time model a naked teenage girl to get the deserved attention haha

the anatomy works 100% for me, what doesnt are the colors/compositing. by this i mean the fact that the shadows and the transition from light to darkness on your character have a slight blue tint, while the characters in the backg obviously don't. just test how it would look without the blue/green on his face, i did the test on my pc and i think it's more realistic.

Raul-Reznek- hahaha, thanks for the feedback!! I appreciate it!! But I don't agree. I think that the whole image has a constantly green/blue shadow(that I personally like),as the characters on the background as well, I see it clearly on the guy at the right... so I think that the main character is nicely integrated with the background.

Awesome, i recognise the character Genji Takaya but he is a little different, for example, he hasn't the scar on his cheek or i didn't see it!
