i got maya 5 btw...so that might pose some compatibility issues

I've tried it five minutes ago, and i also use Maya 5.0.

This is the way MEL script work:
- Put the script easerender.mel in your ScriptPath.
(C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\maya\scripts)
- type: source easerender.mel in the command line.
- The easerenderUI will popup and you can start rendering
