I dont know where i should post this but i think here would be apporiate?
Hey, guys im looking into School and i have Full sail And Vancouver in my mind. Full Sail looks good but i dont see alot of good Demo reels. Vancouver looks great also insane Demo reels but i have seen on forums that VFS owns your demo reel? does that mean you cant use it to find a job? or just that they can post it on youtube and such.? If you Can Keep your demo reel still and use it to find a job im probally going to VFS. So ya Which school is better and in VFs are you still able to keep your Demo reel for a job search even though they can use it.

I'm not sure about the demo reel ownership. However, I do know that one reason the demo reels are better is because they get a lot longer to work on it (4-6 months, i believe. This is what I've heard, I've not actually researched VFS too much). VFS is a longer course but not necessarily better or more in depth. FS is the same education, only in 21 months. At FS we only receive one month (of demo reel specific class) to work on the demo reel. So, it's hard to say which is better based on the demo reel. I wouldn't say it is because of a lack of education at FS, rather a lack of dedication from the students. FS is very fast and very intense, you have to be willing to spend 12-16 (sometimes more) hours a day at school. The school is 24/7, sometimes you will have classes from 9am-5pm, others you will have class from 9pm-5am. Also, classes are sometimes split in half, so you could have your lecture at 9am and have your lab at 1am (usually not THAT bad, but it happens). On top of that, because you are learning so much material in such a condensed time-frame, you have to be willing to work at home... a lot. I've been here for a year and three months and I do not feel that the education has been inadequate at all. It's just thrown at you sometimes and if you want to take it anywhere, you have to take the initiative.
Hope this helped a little. Feel free to ask me any questions you may have about FS, I will try to answer.

thank you for the answer. Ya if im going to spend 70k or 80k on a school im doing all my best. like even now i spend a good 5-8hours a day sometimes just praticeing and working. So im guessing FS cleaned up there act and really getting better? Its a hard decision when it comes down to money wise also. because if 1 school that i pick wasnt good there goes 80,000$ and im srewed. but i know that its the work i put in that makes me better. Also How are the teacher? i heard on some forums there pretty bad but i dont know the date on when they said that?. Thank you again for your help

The majority of the teachers are amazing. The lab assistants are somtimes questionable, but they always work their hardest to find you the answers you need if they can't answer themselves. Most of the actual teachers though have 5-10+ years of industry experience in whatever they're teaching. They are always willing to do everything they can to help you gain as much knowledge as they can, even if it means outside of class time. I've had one, maybe two teachers that I did not think were overly qualified for their job. But that is to be expected at any school.

what stream do you want to go? what is your experience in 3d?
at the end it's all up to you no matter what school you go to. As far as I know, Fullsail's animation demo reel mostly will only involve a premade characters while VFS really pushes you to make your own character and story.....
I dont know you, so i can't tell you which one you shuld go since it's all about what kind of pwerson you are....
when you look at those awesome demo reels from vfs, most of the time those reels are made by students who already know alot of 3d before they came to vfs. Some of the really good ones are already like that before they came to vfs... same thing can apply to otehr school... so ... ya
VFS is a 1 year course program... so you cant probably leran how to do 3d stuffs shorter than this... time is really important. who knows what the industry is like after 2 years or more? so the sooner you get into the industry, the better the result
also a really important thing is connections in the schools... if the school doesn't have enough connectons of ppl in the industry... y ou will have a really difficult time finding a job. One thing i can say is that VFS got quite a few of connectioni D:
do more researches. talk to the grads from both school and see what they are doing now....at the end it's how much work you are willing to spend on your work... in vfs where ppl will stay in the school 12-18 hours a day, it's easier to push you when you see others work that hard... I dont think you will see the same studying envoirment if you go to an unversity...
o yes.. i grad from vfs... so.. ya

Just wanted to add that FS is the same thing. Classes are 8 hours, but it is very rare that you go home in less than 12-18 most days. Even if you do get out earlier, you are more than likely to be working at home. It all depends on what YOU want to do - No matter what school you choose. They will probably be pretty close to the same as far as in-school education. It all comes down to YOU.

Ya I understand 100% that Its only 10-25% of the school that makes you good the rest is up to you to work. They give you the the stuff but you need to use it. Im determind 160% to fullfill my dream even now i work 5+ hours a day working or trying to learn. Sometime i just put on a 3d tuturial and listen to it. So Ya FS looks good but so does VFS. so its sooo hard to determe what one. lol So much pressure.
