Facial Deluxe 05-28-2003, 07:39 PM I've heard of a promo for XSI 3.5
Something like 4970$ instead of 7200$
Was wondering if someone had infos on this?
Thanx :)

Yup. Pretty good deal. You may need to contact a reseller in your area for the complete details and fineprint but check out this (http://www.softimage.com/home/promo/) for some info.
Happy spending!

Yup, checking the page, Thanx:thumbsup:
Was wondering if some of you were freelancers working with XSI.
Is it ok for a single user compared to "simpler" programs as Lightwave ? (I used to work with SI3.8 few years ago)
Maybe it's a dumb question, feel free to answer...

It really depends on what you have to do. Animation? Cel shading? Stills?

Hi thirdEye,
Well a bit of everything... but no still.
So no single user around using XSI ?
The offer seems comparable to the Maya one if you count the 2 MR version.
Thought it lacks shave/softbodies/cloth/composting.
Aaagh, it's a hard decision to take, promotion ends in 3 days.
I think I'm gonna wait til Siggraph anyway to check what's new...
Don't hesitate to put a word on this thread to enlight me..
Question is : Is XSI good for a single user ?

I'm obviously biased so I'll refrain from giving an opinion (we all know to what anatomical part those are compared anyway :) ) so I'll just shell out a fact
there are lots of freelances that keep renewing the MNT contract, that's usually a sign of the tool doing what you need and being happy with it.
as far as knowing what's new 3.5 will be out in a matter of days.
If you contact your reseller now I'm sure they will be able to arrange a demo and show you the latest RC of 3.5.
with some luck you could still make it in time for the promotion if the SW convinces you enough.
about the promotion anyway... yes it's correct, under 5k for the ess.wrk. package instead of 7k (only for the first seat, but I doubt you intended to purchase more then one license :) )

:)
Thanx ThE_JacO :)
Ehehehe Demos, they are always perfect... But that's an idea.
Thing is I have no idea of LW8 face, seems to be under dev for longer than what was annouced, and in fact I don't know what will be in the 8....
So I'm totally in the fog concerning my future software.
Thanx a lot for your enthousiast input :)

demos at shows are always perfect.
one2one you can (and should) ask EXACTLY what you want to know about a SW.
if all a demo artist had to do was learning by heart a script and act infront of a crowd at shows you could as well just have a video playing.
as far as the future of LW is concerned I can only say I can relate. the old school SI comunity has been there during the SI|3D - XSI switch.
but hey.. now we rock the scene and are here to stay, until we are old and grey ;)

same here...I will wait till LW 8 is out before making a move. One thing is for certain...my choice will most definitely NOT be Maya.
LW or XSI will have to do it for me. :applause: So far I like what I see.
