Seems like a complete waste of time and money to release a PS 2.5. I've heard the PS3 is very close to release though, but if this is not it, then methinks SONY is barking up the wrong tree. That is, unless they plan to release the machine in Japan only. The Japanese seem over eager to jump on the "next best thing" as far as high-tech gadgetry goes, whereas the US consumers tend to be a bit more aprehensive of new technology. Especially new technology that's not whole lot better than the stuff they've already got. Though I have to say it looks pretty cool. I dont get the point of having a TV tuner in it though. Unless they mean they it can also serve as a cable/satellite box. Bah, I'll wait for the domestic press-release (if there is one). That gibberfish translation is a sick joke. One of the great things about selling equipment in Japan is that everyone is quite rich, hence the number of consoles that are released is much bigger, and there tend to be upgrades.

Looks soo much nicer than anything else though, take a look at that ugly green mess/X-box!

People praise this machine but bash the XBOX because of its PC simularities. With Sony realeasing this new console, it seems to me they are doing the exact same thing. Does this mean everyone will now hate sony for make a console out of a PC?

This is not Sony's new console. It's a Set-Top Box which happens to have the emotion engine and graphics syntheiszer in it to play games. It's not even being released by Sony COmputer Entertainment, but Sony's consumer electronics division.
