Yeah, my brothers and I have always thought certain types of video games even train kids how to think better, especially strategy games and certain kinds of RPG's; especially when playing with or against other people.

i'm looking for the article right now, but research shows video games help kids open up and become more sociable. and also help kids work better with one another.
and who says Counter Strike doesn't teach kids...

Yeah they become really socieable when playing counter strike.
typical conversation of 14 year olds at a counter strike cafe:
"yo john how do you like it up the A$$?"
"F. you man , i'll bust a cap up yours in a sec"
one of em kills the other
"FU.."
"hahahaha who is your daddy bitch?"
I say forget school , lets send em all to counterstrike cafes.
PS: This is not a games are bad for kids post , I just dont believe playing games all day makes a kid outgoing.

But, who cares......
This is an offical endorsement for gaming, Iīm gonna print it and plant it on a wall ;) .

Bulldog,
That is just the funniest comment. :applause:
I've actually heard that exact type of conversation at Counterstrike cafes here in Vancouver.
Too Funny.
I must say that maybe games make certain skills sharper, but they certainly make others duller. I can't remember a game that has "purposefully" attempted to teach something.

yeah, I would have to agree that playing games all the time definitely impacts other areas negatively, or at least can.

"Soldiers who grow up playing video games do better in processing information on a screen or operating long-range unmanned aerial vehicles that can film or photograph enemy activity on the ground, according to military experts. "
Well this sounds like common sense to me but how usefull is being able to spot fast moving objects in reallife besides being a super soldier actually that usefull? That is to say on today's playgrounds maybe the geeks will finally get out of the way of a jock throwing a football at their blindside or reckless driving teennagers are more likely to swerve out of the way of slow moving pedestrians at 60 mph in a 35 mph lane
perhaps these kids will function better in assembly lines.. they can up the speed on the line and the worker of tommorrow is less likely to get their fingers caught in the machinery.
How is this productive?
lol yeah its rediculous.
There was a program on tv today (richard and judy for any brits around and i SWEAR i stumbled on it when chan hopping, i dont make a habit of watching this tripe) they had three 60-70 year olds playing on a gc ps2 and xbox, to see if it boosted their dexterity, perception and all that shite.
They were all in agreement in that it did do so and this computer games journalist was ranting on about how great games were and so on. Then the host asked the golden oldies if they would buy a console or recommend it to anyone and every single one of them said bluntly 'no'. The bloke was like 'yeah its all well and good but go outside'.
I overheard some 18 year olds that had just started their freshers week at a red brick university last year on the train. They were literally talking in 1337 speak, they wouldnt laugh at each others jokes but instead actually say l.o.l
I couldnt believe it.
