These are background art for "Thundercats/Battle of the Planets" from Wildstorm Comics, which came out today.

There were four of these background paintings, of which I'm posting two here. Each one contained at least one poisonous plant--death scenes waiting to happen, sort of thing.

Death Scenes III - Bloody Night Orchids (after the landscapes of Martin Johnson Heade)

Death Scenes IV - Dusk Mountain Oleander

Each was completed in under a day, unfortunately--I'd have liked a bit more time to play with them.

(edited-put pics on a different host to get rid of red x's)

Wow, those are really sweet...
Very nice treatment, and I like the imminent danger aspect...
What sort of medium were you using?
Keep up the great work.

dudeguy - Hehehe, yeah...that'd be the ones!

RedSilas - Thank you very much!

Dancing Monkey - Yep. Apparently, Wildstorm Comics got the rights to make a comic series based on the '80s cartoon, and these backgrounds are for a one-shot crossover between that and Top Cow's "Battle of the Planets" property.

chadtheartist - Thank you! Landscapes are fun.

Kel Solaar - Thanks...I might paint more flowers soon, if I get time...it was more fun than I expected.

britnell - Thank you very much. I used Photoshop 6 to make these.

Hehe, usually its the cartoons which are based on the comic books.
Man, That cartoon rocked, very much like your work. Very good job! Keep it up.
