View Full Version : HUD - To update textures?
ThePriest 07-21-2008, 03:26 PM It's it possible to utilize a function accessible through the HUD, a way for the client to simply click an option and browse for their own artwork, replacing existing textures etc?

no sadly. Text Strings, shader links, texture links and file links cannot work in the HUD and those are the only 4 ways I can think of. You could have a null at the top of your scene wth userdata for this, just can't get it into the HUD.

Ok, forget that approach.
If I have reference null with 'file' user data and try to make a connection in xpresso.
I seem to be limited to the color channel only, and can't make connection to it.
Any ideas there?
Thanks for your quick response also.

I tried.
Null:Out -user data'file'
In Bitmap 'filesname' - Out Bitmap 'color'
In Mat(color)
With no resulting update
..
I release it seems like a waste of time to do this, but the client has little or no knowledge of Cinema 4d and wants to be able to update template graphics with a simple 'browse to' function

The solution that worked for me was to simply drag the 'layer' from the material into xpresso and link directly to the user data.
Final question on the subject.
Is there a way to refresh all of those newly updated materials with one click?
At the moment they don't update, I have to double click the material editors preview manually to get an editor update.

the render all materials command which you could add to the HUD via the command manager.
