View Full Version : Environment \ Old passage
beatoperator 05-28-2003, 03:18 PM do not have intention to make it absolutely photorealistic... just "natural looking" (like someone at this forum once said:) ). it is an old passage. lots of them looking like this in my street so there's where I got inspiration... ;)

Hi!
Grats, its very realistic!! But i feel something strange in it, that makes the scene a little bit odd.
Maybe consider this: the interior shadows are too dark and has cg feeling, because the door has uniformly blurred shadows. Try make it lighter and gradually more softer as its going inside.
Another tip: the shadow :) of the tree is to sharp. also needs more blur.
And lastly: the textures are blurred :) at the lower side of the wall, make it somehow sharper. Maybe play with the filter, or use some proced grain for the bump. Hope it helps!
Anyhow, great work! What apps do you use?
Cheers

Looking very good! :thumbsup:
Some unordered comments:
The transition from ground to wall, particularly in the left side of the image, seems a bit to sharp - perhaps one could cover it up with some sand/dust/dirt that is bound to end up there.
The texture on the doors, most noticeable in the left door, seems a bit skewed. And the colors appear a bit too saturated at the very bottom of it (IMO).
The transition from stained "asphalt" to the rougher kind of dirt in the opening looks a bit strange too. Like you've used a slightly too soft clonestamp when stitching two different textures together.
<edit>
Aaannd: :D I think the edges around the outer opening are far too sharp and unbroken. Considering the big cracks in the lower left part, these edges should probably be a bit broken up too.
</edit>
Just my ideas... But it's a very good image already!
