WOW. The body is almost perfect to me, very realistic. my only gripe is the lack of a shadow on the right (her left) arm from the interaction with the sleeve. To me it feels like there should be just some slight darkening at that line to help tie it together. The other thing, which i can't quite put my finger on why, is her face. Maybe its because her race seems to be a bit too undefined and mixed. To me she looks part European, part Asian, and its hard to make a distinction, thus its distracting. Or maybe her lips just stick out too far. Not just her lips themselves, but the area surrounding them too. It kind of looks swollen.
But all in all, excellent work, 5 stars. Congrats on a job well done, I'm looking forward to your next piece.

Wow. Wow, wow, wow. :surprised
Regardless of this, if I may leave some nano-sized critics, despite I'm not worthy:
The second toe on her left foot seems to be quite small looking at the first one, but I don't know her real anatomy.
And the cloth shader is in my opinion only 99% perfect, the glossiness on her left sleeve appears a tiny bit too regular.
Sorry for this, but this is only to get your perfect work even more perfect.
Apart fom that, 5*****, beyond any question.
And - don't know, did I already mention?
Wow!

07-20-2008, 01:26 PM
AWESOME!!
The only thing out of place seems to be the right sleeve (her right). Just seems to not have enough shadow, or wrinkles on it.
But I really really really love the creases on the couches. You hit the nail perfectly on the head with that.
And of course needless to say the face, skin and clothing are nothing short of amazing.
You should be really proud of this piece. I hope this gets plugged, or sent to the Choice gallery. ;)

I understand what you mean, she has a different look. I persoanlly did'nt want to choose a model that had a classic oriental look. I guess Some people will like it and some may not.
Heres some Zbrush viewport stills showing some more of the detail of the model. My main aim was to produce an image of the complete model and I never planned to go into perfect micro detail on her skin. My machine could'nt handle that anyway :)
Im happy that so people like my image.

That's great work, nice image. I feel like a very slight rim light on her left would help pop her even further; now there is something that bugs me and I realize that it is most likely just a perspective illusion than anything else but her right foot seems twisted in a very awkward position, seems like her heel is almost completely sideways but the front of the lower leg seems to be straight which is impossible for a human to do. That heel looks weird man, its freaking me out!.

This image has its' magic. It's nearly realistic (especially the sofa's surface). However there is just a bit of "illustration" feel on it. Which in this case works very well. Also a very basic decision you made was to make her overall look so unique. It really pays off. It's not perfect if you look it from "realistic" point of view, but to me it's a perfect as a piece of art.

The best part of this are the legs and feet. The shader and modeling there looks perfect.
On the rest it looks a bit flat, uniform and plasticy, also the dress looks like plastic.
Modeling problems: her right arm arm is significantly bigger than her left arm, it's never a good idea to adjust the proportions to fit a particular pose. The mouth/chin area has strange lumpy bits, and also she has remarkably stubby little fingers, but I suppose some people do have stubby fingers...
Nice work overall.

Although I must agree it's an excellent pic I think face looks quite odd (I can't tell exactly what it is, I need to see other angles) and toes should be bigger (when they get in the shoe they wouldn't shrink, they would just overlapp and compress with each other).

Wow! Amazing stuff :) I can't crit on the modeling stuff, but having lived in Asia for quite some time, the proportions seems fine to me. The only thing that stood out, and has been mentioned, is the specular on her left shirt sleeve. Just a bit to regular and shiny. The only reason it "stood out" was because I was trying to find *something* wrong to make me feel better ;)

I m sorry oDDity but for a still image you can cange the proportion to look good.Thats its availeble only for illustration. Iff you trie to make a pose with the arm in the front you will see thats not nice, and looks wierd, but iff you give the hand a nice perspective, modifid the proportion you will see a better result.

There is no perspective here. Both arms are at virtually the same z depth. The right arm has been stretched to make it reach the chin, when just raising the knee a little would have been a better solution.

Please, could you show a little your lights&render setup with mental for this kind of scenes?
Talking a little about the materials/shaders could be great cause of the big conection with the render engine. Any photon parameter change or glossy interpolation in the materials?
What about the SSS for skin, did you used the "SSS Fast Skin+" and a "SSS Fast Skin+ (w. Disp)" of MasterZap?
Thanks for your time, sorry for all these technical questions and my english ;)

Good work, espetially lights and skin, but I have some crits (don't be angry if this metioned before):
1. She's sitting, so haunch and buttock must be squashed and in according with she have feminine anatomy her (sorry) ass must be at least as much wide as her torso width shoulders
2. Leather coach under her (sorry again) back not enough deformed and wrinkled
3. The left upper arm seems thicker than the right one, maybe because of dress.
4. Her left foot smaller than right one and the left heel little bit wrenched
Edit.
5. Oh, and I forget about hairs on the hads, just a little bit. I know she's asian (asians less hairy than europeans but clearly someone in her stem family is european)

Excellent job. One small critique. A woman sits with her toes pointed inward to help keep her knees together. If the toes are pointed outward the knees tend to spread apart. You have the knees together but her right foot is oddly angle outward. The toes of the right foot should point inward toward her left foot. Other than that it is simply amazing, 5 stars.

Oh man, why did you show it? I'm perisher, just perisher.
So:
1. Iris have no relief, little tracks from periphery to center.
2. Her eyelashes is too short, maybe it will be better if she could have longer but scant eyelashes
3. Hairs, two top tresses exhibit that there polys with texture and alpha
4. Don't know how to say it in another way, but the 2nd metacarpal is longer than 3rd one (bones of her index and middle fingers)
But the image still beautiful, nice.
UniqueCharacter
07-23-2008, 02:25 AM
Some crit that I disagree with:
Her pose is fine, it may be unnatural - but it is a pose. Many fashion model's poses are unnatural. Her eyelashes look fine to me. They look natual and that works for me. Longer lashes would make her seem more dolled up. I still think the image is great.

arizaga - very simple mate.
2 large area lights, 1 key and one fill to represent softboxes. Misss_fast skin, im certainly not an expert using this but i found default settings fine, i changed the subdermal color to get a color falloff 1 liked.
fabis - thanks..good points. I dont think everyone has noticable tracks in the iris. I never noticed any from all the reference i took, so i refuse to put them in if its expected.
And with the fingers, everyone has slightly different proportions and i wasnt creating an image of a perfect female. But for me its the overall image i was more concerned with.
But all good points, a good eye you have.
unique character - i agree with you, the image is for fashion, so it would look posed.
Oddity - ye some people have stubby fingers!

I feel the model and materials are very good, but this model needs something more out of the renderer. It could use depth of field blur, and maybe there needs to be a color gamut. I think a high quality renderer like Arnold or one of the better radiosity renderers would do the trick to push this over the top for realism.

One of the most amazing cg female.People always see imperfections in cg images, because they know it's not a photo. But just do a small experiment...publish it with the question "Cg or real?"...all my coleagues belived that's a photo, even in the hires image...you have achieved something that many artists failed...so i guess that now you know what you should do...Keep walking!

Amazing! Such a neat work. Everything looks real, and at the same time perfectly unreal. The pose is so natural, and so is the way the body conforms to it. The leather couch... wow! Congrats on a wonderful job.:applause:

I would take any criticisms regarding small details with a grain of salt. A little more or less highlight here or there - could the lighting you have in your image exist in the real world? Yes it can, many factors can contribute to affecting light values - especially highlights. Body proportions - it is a known fact of science that the norm is for people to be asymmetrical. Even in experiments where a symmetrical photo of a person was shown to test subjects, the people thought there was something wrong with the image (it looks inhuman). Because most of us have a dominant side to our bodies, one side ends up differing from the other. So it is perfectly natural to have arms, legs, toes - even left and right sides of the face to be slightly different.
Your work is natural looking, photorealistic, and amazing. The only criticism I have is I don't know where to sign up for your class! 5 stars and Master level performance!

Very Realistic. Noob here so forgive the dumb questions: how much did you have to know about human anatomy to get so realistic. And how practical / believable would it be to animate this character? Are there any plans to do so. Thanks.
nice job with the realism in this ...

I felt compelled to log in and comment on this as I feel you've created a stunning piece of realism. That being said, I feel that the shading and specular on the eyes could be tweaked. At the moment the eyes just dont seem to be as interesting as they could be. To me, they were the only dead giveaway upon my first inspection. Brilliant job!

perfect bernadette from modeling to rendering.
asymetrical pose and soliciting/in wait expression contributes to realism and perfectly fits the composition !
she looks like she's posing "on purpose without knowing it", she looks like she "didn't expect to be shot but tried to be nice" with the photographer..
*excellent work, OLD-BOY !
(after big zooming, inner low eyelids and three toes' nails are maybe overbright, .˛)), ...of course it's just a joke !
