View Full Version : Character Rigging
3d_man_89 05-28-2003, 01:20 PM Hi,
What is chracter rigging? Is it the way a mesh deforms when animated? If so, can you lead me to some good tutorials on character rigging?

There's a whole section of the cgtalk forum dedicated to it 3d_man_89!
Rigging is generally to do with setting up bones in a character for animation. A character rig is usually the system that deforms and moves the mesh, not the mesh itself.
I usualy dump skinning into that catergory as well, as in the actual assigning of the bones to the mesh areas.
Check out the rigging section of cgtalk to get a better idea.
In the case of 3ds max, a rig would usually consist of max bones. Check out the manual for a rig tutorial.
