Hey everyone, I've been working on a film of
mine at VFS and thought I'd try and get some
more feedback while I can still change things.
Check it out
Roy and Dog (http://www.vfs.com/~ma10jesse/Public/roydogmovie.avi)

Its about 11 mb and I used DivX 5.3 for compression.
Comments and Crits are always cool.

A bit to much on the low poly side :)

I also think the animation could use better timing... Some times the models just stand still and freeze, doing nothing and a few seconds later they continue doing what they were doing.

thanks, uh, bastard? thats sounded weird
anyways, ya thanks for the comments , I'm still in the process of animating, so i'll work on the timing a bit. I've always had a problem with making everything to fast, short attention span i guess.
I'm hoping to be able to work another 2 more months on it to really jazz it up. but i'll keep updating as I complete new scenes.

keep the crits coming!!

I like it. Very good animated characters. I think you should work on the materials and lightning. Make them more like monsters inc. :buttrock:

Yo ~
I wound suggest putting the characters closer to each other. Use the rule of thirds. I think it's hard to see what's going on when the characters are too far from one another with the animation.
Sounds would help out a lot to explain why characters are doing the actions. :bounce:

Thanks for the comments guys.
i know what bigbads saying, it bugs me as well having only certain parts textured and
other not, plus i'd like to spend way more time on them.

and i see koity's point on the composition of the shots.

I applied for this scholarship from vfs to work on this for a couple more months,
so everything's kinda ridding on that. I will try and fix as much of it as I can though, so stay tuned!!

As for the crits, keep them coming !!

so uhm which one do i DL? Can u just update your first posts links?

jdiddio
06-17-2003, 05:32 PM
Sorry for the confusion bitmap, but you can hit any of the links.
All I do is update a single file, so any of my links will work. I just wanted to tell people I've updated and give them the option of downloading right there I guess. Weird no?

Anyways, Koity, i'm not sure what you mean about the dog "running off " at the end, he actually gets smacked off by the shark guy. Yet another scene I need to fix the posing and animation for.

So keep those crits comming

Like the characters a lot! Some of the expressions are a little hard to read, needs more definition. Also are we supposed to be following a story, or are these just single shots?

Keep at it, hope you get the grant, it costs way too much to study over there!

Just finished the first Draft of my short,
so everything's there and I can begin tightning everything up.

Check it out , Roy and Dog (http://vfs.com/~ma10jesse/Public/roydogmovie.avi)

Just a note that you do need DivX to view this short,
which can be downloaded at www.divx.com

Comments and Crits always encouraged and Demanded!!

First of all I think this short could be awsome if executed right, but it feels really scattered.. and a lot of things dont read... or just dont make sence..
why does he try and poo on the fire hydrant? or is he trying to show the dog how to it? and why does the dog start sucking the fire hydrant?

and why does he smack the dog off screen at the rainbow part?

but i do like the style a lot animation and models.. so keep it up ya hoser:D

he he watching it again i really do like it though
is the section with the stills of them supposed to be like photos or something?
you should put them on polaroids and have them spin in frame

keep it up

jdiddio

thanks for the comments, Paxton

I know what you mean about the story, but basically there is no story. The dog wakes up
to his owner, they run off and basically have fun (or something like it)

The original story had Roy buying the dog, and spending the day with it.
Than the dog was run over by a car, and Roy would go back to the dog shop to buy
another one, but i didn't have the time to finish it in the short, 4 months at vfs.

As for the stills, I am going to animate them, but I had to make a
finished version for my grad coming up.

After that, I'm working on it for another 2 months so I'll be
adding all the goodies, and fixing up poses/timing, etc.

Anyways, keep the comments coming!!!

Hey all!!
Just found a better way to compress my film,
so its only 11mb, instead of 30, so faster downloads for all in my kingdom!!!

Roy and DOg (http://www.vfs.com/~ma10jesse/Public/)
Just click on, Royanddog.avi
Also, added a new scene, Enjoy!!

Crits always welcome!!! If you hate it, tell me!

koity

Hey it's me again.
First of all congratulation on the demo reel.
Finally finished~
I still think it's best to explain why the guy farted and the dog bit the fire pole.
It's still a bit awkward for me.
So how did you compress your film down to 11mb?
Keep up the good job when doing the scholarship .
