View Full Version : Field behavior I need to acheive please help!

Hi
Im making an animation of a logo and I almost got it.
But the Uniform field I applied won't acheive what I want.

Here are my particles and an Uniform field applied (I miswrote Drag field but ignore it)
WHen I play it, it seems that it's the entire particles system that's being pulled :

What I would like is that each particle (starting from top) is pulled one by one as if it's being blowed away by wind

Make sure your uniform field has Attenuation on at 1 and max distance on also, You need to play with the max distance depending on how far the field is away from your particles. Then keyframe the fields translation in 'z' from top to bottom in this case and your particles should move as the field moves.

I tried it and I seems to work pretty well

only problem : the Max Distance attribute seems to work as a Radius setting, so the particles far away are not affected ... (see image)

Is there a way to make the width larger but keeping the 'Max distance' in front of the field.. if you know what I mean. I tried playing with the Volume control but it doesn't do anyting..

I think you're better off if you use the air field. You can set the spread to something pretty low and then animate the field to move down your logo over time.

or try using the volume axis field, this will affect particles within its bounding box, have a play.

Thx for the suggestions, the volume bounding box method worked pretty well, it took a lot of tweaking on the Magnitude and Attenuation , and adding a vortex field on top helped to enhance the blowing effect..
