The above is my "inner" Totoro.
Title: Twins
Medium: Pen and Ink with Digital
Story: The blue gill-necked centi-plesiosaur is known for its inquisitive nature, sociable disposition, and extremely poor eyesight.

Here's something you'll be hearing a lot about.

This amazing event called the Totoro Forest Project is a fundraising auction that has brought together over 200 distinguished artists from animation, comic books and illustration, to save the Sayama forest (aka Totoro Forest). Hayao Miyazaki used this forest as an inspiration for "Totoro". All proceeds will go to the Totoro no Furusato Forest Foundation, established by Hayao Miyazaki himself. This is the brilliant idea of Dice Tsutsumi, Ronnie del Carmen and Enrico Casarosa.

How does this work? There's an auction held at Pixar on September 6, 2008. There will also be a book produced collecting all the artwork involved in the project.

Check out their wonderful site for some mind blowing pieces !!--> TOTORO FOREST PROJECT (http://www.totoroforestproject.org)

I'm very honored to be a part of it.

And here's the other piece...
I usually don't do many finished works traditionally but it's for a good charity.
Hope you like it.

Beautiful work! As always, your characters are adorable. The ground foliage looks too unrealistic for my taste but it's still a wonderful image.

A great image! The only thing that I would critizise is the scaling of the boy compared to the leaves of the trees and bushes. The leaves seem too big.

cheers
Marc

Mayafon - Thanks so much. For this piece I wanted to paint it a bit different. I was hoping to do something that embodies the feeling of Miyazaki but also reflected my own style. Overall I'm happy with the results. It's for such a good cause. I hope the book does well.

Acida - thanks!

Absolutely love the colors and the soft "feel" of this painting. Very intriguing.

I love how calm the boy is, standing on this gigantic monster. They certainly are having a "moment" together.

Really wonderful illustration as always Bob!

Nice work Bob. I noticed you started vlogging your work on youtube, will there be a speed painting coupled with a podcast recording for this one?

This is such a great project! (http://forums.cgsociety.org/misc.php?do=getsmilies&wysiwyg=1&forumid=0#) And your art work surely blends well to the imaginative way to take a part in nature, monsters, and kids special friends from this worlds! Congrats Bobby I think you did a great work! although I was a bit surprised by the low render on your bushes, since Miyasaki's back grounds are always so full of detail! Never the less the characters and the fog lagoon its awesome! :applause: (http://forums.cgsociety.org/misc.php?do=getsmilies&wysiwyg=1&forumid=0#)
5 stars!:lightbulb
