Max runs fine on two monitors, at least on my quadro, but i dont see why the Radeon should be any different.
If you dont want to maximize max over both of the monitors, then you can just throw the editors and menus over on the second monitor.

have you tried yet?

Like ET said, i've found it best to run max dual-monitor with your viewports in one screen and your curve/track/material/UV/etc. editors on the second screen.

The second screen is great for the reference and cgtalk as well!:D

i have the same video card and tried 'forcing' the viewports to stretch onto both monitors.. that was great! til i had more then 50 polys anywhere and it laggggged

So now i just have my viewports on my CRT on the left, and then all the tools on the LCD on the right, sometimes its great to have a reference up there too so you have it the entire time as you model
