View Full Version : Huge file size problem in Rhino 3D
korborak 05-28-2003, 04:21 AM Hi!
Why does Rhino produce such a large file size when modeling something and how could i minimize it without loosing visible quality?
I have tried exporting into different formats but without success.
Thank you!

Yes, i always do.
I diminishes the file size by half and still i end up having spaceships that are several hundreds of MB's!!
It's a good thing i have a powerfull computer to handle that! ;)

True, I haven't really started on Rhino yet, but it seems that saving render meshes with the file will make the files huge.

There is an option in Rhino called "save small" that will get rid of the render meshes leave you with the object only. Using this option will reduce the file by half which is still not enough.
There are several settings that you can ajust when exporting from NURB to mesh but i havn't found the right combination...
I have read somewhere that i can only ajust the "MAX EDGE LENGTH" and that it will make a huge difference with the file size without affecting the quality of the mesh too much. Well, i tried it several times at a different setting and it only gave me a 1Mb difference on a 20Mb file. :buttrock:
