Did this on the weekend for a contest on another forum ( french one ) and decided to put it here so you guys ( the pro's ) can give a hand on what i should improve in my work .
What are the bad things i did and what are the good ones if any ?

hah. welcome to the forums man!
On with the picture. I like it.
I personally think that the smoke and fire just kill the image, it doesn't look CG (looks very 2d) at all nor does it seem to go with the pic. But if that's your style, stick with it.
Give the sky some feel man! Noone likes just plan blue! Try some heavy dark clouds with a moon hiding behind them, might be pretty sick! ;) Would change the atmosphere of the image to a more dramatic feel perhaps.
The rock texture doesn't seem to match with everything else.
And lastly, give us a better angle? i wanna see the armies and catapults and everything. That's where the action is.

wow thats pretty cool. Id probably give those projectiles some motion blur though :)

Will try that ....... motion blur on the projectiles .....!
As for the smoke ...... they are done with particules ...... no 2d here ! :)
Will have a look at it .... but since this is done and finished ...... the ideas will be on the next scene .
