View Full Version : odd color changes, trouble selecting things, and random freezes...

i also posted this on the bug tracker thing but i'm not sure how often that gets updated..

i'm using 98.08e with win2k and the newest video card drivers (radeon 9500).

if i have more than one object (say 2 cylinders) and try to box select (drag a box around what i want to select) vertices/edges/faces on one, the colors go all weird, and what i tried to select, well, isn't selected. the colors go back to normal if i hover my mouse over something, change the view etc. this doesn't happen if i select stuff in any other method, or if there is only one object.

a more fickle problem is that at random times wings will freeze my whole computer and i have to do a hard reboot. i say it's fickle because i can't reliably reproduce it, but it's not fickle in the sense that it doesn't happen often -- on the contrary it happens almost every time i use wings. i really have no clue what causes it but it only seems to happen when i'm doing a lot of work and/or having multiple objects.

i like wings but it was never this unstable on win98! help!

I've heard so many issues with the open GL drivers for all the radeon cards, I think that is probably the problem. Did you get the latest video card drivers for the Radeon for win2k?

Wish I could help you there Drake but I got a Radeon series card on this machine(actually my GF's) and Wings3D works fine...

In my case,the latest drivers always seem to be the problem though.

hehe hi ac ;D i'm not really surprised you hang out here, you posted anything?

maybe it'll fix itself after a while. maybe it has something to do with the image planes, but that's the only way to do ref pics in wings..

The latest version wings is supposed to fix all those problems , havent downloaded and tried it myself yet.

Well here you go Drake...try the latest and no I haven't posted anything yet.

I'm still looking around here trying to get that perfect mesh instead of posting crap. :)

BTW:I saw that monster head you posted a while ago while searching these boards,not bad at all,you're becoming quite a good modeler yourself.

oh wow :) cool i'll have to try the patch.

umm the only thing i've posted on here is a mediocrely colored sketching, never a model -- you sure it was me? cause if i have an alternate personality who can model i'd like to meet myself ;D
