I thought the human-lookin' hands added a nice touch to it.
Edit:
I'm also wondering how I should approach the body, any suggestions?

whoa there partner seems someone in town has some mighty small hands. Not to mention some garguantuan arms. use basic anatomy buddy, if you don't its gonna look really weird.
The hands should be about the same size as the face, and the arms should equal the leangth of the body when they are extended.

Made the arms a little shorter, head smaller, arms larger (so they just about match). And a female-lookin' body.
Note: I might just change the head into something more human-like.
hmm I think the wrists are still a bit funky and the way the hands are pointed is completely unatural. makes them look very tense. There are lots of problems usually with mixing robotish and human parts. Due to the fact that the metal parts often look awkard. but anyway good progress.

I'm having trouble thinking up how I should do the legs, maybe the same style as the arms?
keep it all the same style buddy. changing styles is not a smart thing to do.

Yeah I can see what you mean, and how I'd go wrong if I changed how it'd look. Also wondering, do you mind if I IMed you some time? For tips and such so I wouldn't have to post and bother people with my questions all the time?
lol don't tell anyone but I like a big post count. so I don't mind answering here. however I really don't like to spam so maybe its smarter.
anyway my aim is RJH249 and my MSN is billgatesucks@hotmail.com
I just realized this those elbows are really weird dude. I mean they are so skinny and not only that there is no way for them to operate there is no joint in them the forearm is connected to to upper arm by pretty much nothing. you should build that area up a bit.

Actually, they're connected, it just seems so because of the small image and white background. Here's a zoom-in on the elbow.
