Digital tutors are the best for a beginner but gnomon is good too. I am watching both right now. Digital tutors into to zbrush is allot simpler as it's not so content packed and you dont get lost as easy. I would reccomend you start with digital tutors intro to zbrush, then move to gnomons videos so you will feel more at ease with the interface and can handle the gnomon videos easier. Both teach something that the other doesnt so really in the end you should watch videos from both plus any free ones you find on the web and there are plenty.

I haven't seen the digital tutors ones. They seem to be just learning the program (not very good artists), but that's prob good so you can learn along with them. There are a lot of free ones out there, seems like it's pretty saturated now with zbrush training, the same info over and over. Scott Spencers new book is really good to learn with.

There's a great deal of entry level videos out there for sure. I dont know if I would say it is saturated after all look at the videos for maya. There are like 50 of them just on digital tutors. I did the math the other day and if I remember correctly if I watch one chapter ( about 5 videos) on maya a day it would take me 5 months to watch all of the videos that digital tutors has on maya.

Gnomon has some pretty professonal zbrush videos that are meant for those who are familiar with the program already. I been poking around in a few of them just for inspiration. There's just sooooo many tips and tricks that you really need to watch allot of videos to see how this is done and how that is done.

Definately watch those 'making of' videos on gnomon like the making of fume,jester,trin. They all have parts in zbrush and you can learn sooo much not about the interface and tools but how they go about creating certain effects and the like. This is not a linear program. You kinda need to learn the program and also learn how to be a artist as well.

Ryan Kignslien has several over at gnomonology. His description of the pallettes is, like all his work, superb.
Meats Meyer's are also top quality, but because of the changes in the 3 to 3.1 not really suited for a beginner. Which is a pity.

Why not try a book?
Get INtroducing ZBrush by Eric Keller from SYBEX.
It's on 3.1 and extremely complete and well explained.

Best video tuts to start with are those from pixologic themselves. They are free and very good.

The interface changed allot on the 3.0-3.1 patch. If you are a total newbie and know nothing it'll throw you off a little bit especially since zbrush has a steep beginners learning curve evn for those who have worked in other 3d programs. It's just not set up like other software programs are so it's not intuitive. But I learned quite well starting with a 3.0 tutorial running a 3.1 version. It just takes a little while to figure out the snags.

I started learning ZB a few months ago as a total newbie - not only to ZB, but also to 3d in general (being a "pure" 2d artist I had absolutelly no previous 3d experience, I even did not know the meaning of the very basic 3d terminology when I downloaded the trial ZB 3.1 version)

started at ZCLASSROOM at zbrushcentral.com
http://www.pixologic.com/zclassroom/homeroom/
to learn the very basics, and (besides following tons of tutorials on the web and/or reading other threads/asking for help at the pixologic/ZBrushCentral forum), then I also purchased the Meats Meyer's Introduction to ZB3;
yes, the interface is a bit different - but - as Vovin sais - it just takes a little while to figure out the snags, as Meats is telling you the differences each time it is relevant;

though I did not understand everything Meats was talking about for the first time (I am not talking about my limited English knowledge, now I mean - there was too much new information to absorb for a total newbie at once, for me) - in general I learnt a lot from that tut; and I still keep comming back - I can understand more each time I am watching the tut again ..
just my experience;

I also found very useful the ZBC blog -
http://www.pixologic.com/blogs/ryan/
where you can find some great basic tutorials (written ones or videos or timelapse demos, also greatly valuable for a beginner to understand the process/approach) for free ..
its not only RyanŽs, also Francois Rimasson, Alex Ollivier and other top ZB artists are/were contributing ..

and - of course - there is a lot of great people in the forums here and at ZBC, that might also help you, if youŽll ask ..

I've just released a series myself, but my favorite Gnomon/gnomology ones are any of Zack Petroc's or Ceasar Dacol's.
