Do they want to get rid of the packages in stock? Do I see a new version on the horizon? Is this highly speculative? Yes! - but hope dies last.....

Go get if you got some dead presidents to spend - itīs great!

Just bought my own full priced copy about a month and a halfago. DOH!

I can only hope that this means I will be shelling out a few more bucks (hopefully literally a few) for Bodypaint 2--or is that BP 7?

For some reason , when BP came out it was named BP 3d: R6. I think they named it to coincide with R6 of C4d.

Anyone havve any ideas on what kind of features would make BP even better?

My contribution:

Painting with SLA procedurals maybe?

pit you might have hit onto something here my boy....

brush size viewing/indictator whatever its called within photoshop basically shows how big your brush is by circle size etc...visual more intuitive than non at all.

photoshop filters.

more photoshop less bodypaint...hard to describe and hard to fix without facing legal action...heh heh.

Have you seen Corel Painter 8? As close as you can get to photoshop without getting sued!

Theres a thread somewhere on BP3D improvments we all asked for a while ago......there were lots :)

A new version of BP now that would be really nice indeed  ......fingers crossed.

Corel had a deal recently where anyone with so much as a painter classic app could upgrade to version 8 for 150 US,only a US deal though.Think it finishes at the end of May if anyone is interested :)

hmm I wish I could read the beta testers minds.

hummph I wanna be a beta tester :( , but man I would kill for the perfect unwrap button.

that and more paint tools that work faster. I swear BP 3D does not paint nearly as fast as Photoshop does. However I suppose BP3D has more info to deal with.

Another thing that would be nice would be to have the raybrush rendering stay updated even if you rotated or panned around your scene.

I find that sometimes the Alpha channel doesnt stay activated when I'm painting in multi channel mode. A pain.

Bodypaint will have the PERFECT UNWRAP button.

Cinema will have the MODEL PERFECT MESH button.

Advanced Render will have the RENDER PERFECT IMAGE button.

Need anything else? :airguitar

Why not with GI and HDRI activated? With Arndt Translucency? Nothing else? A lemon ice cream? :D

Hmm, the UK shop doesn't have the offer listed (yet?)...

Flingster, what did you mean by "more photoshop less bodypaint"?

Ok, now it does. That's my order placed...

I've been thinking that this would be really useful to have for a while now, but felt that it was just a bit too expensive for me. Glad I waited - though I'm sure that the big discount means that there is an upgrade in the pipeline.

Whoops--everyone seems a bit uptight about the wish list thing. Just a fun excercise that each of us have been guilty of at one point or another. Guess i was just bored .

I'm not a techie guy--dont know whats possible or whats not. When I paint in raybrush mode, the one thing that always bugs me is I often need to nudge my camera view , zoom in rotate, etc as I paint, then I lose the rendered preview. I have Sniper Pro, which works under a similar principal of updating a renderred view in Real time in its window. Perhaps realtime raybrush updating with camera nudging is something that can work with the right OGL card. I figure it doesnt hurt to ask.

Lemon ice cream? Now thats disgusting.
Although I was in Bar Harbor,Maine once and someone tried to sell me Lobster ice cream. They put lobster in everything up there.

You've gotta be kidding me!!!!!!!!

lemon ice-cream: disgusting?????????? Why, it's one of the great joys in life!!!!:bounce:

(now I only wish I would've used bodypaint at some point to have a more useful contribution to this thread  )

Call your local Maxon sales office. They're usually pretty flexible about these things.

Hiya,

This is a cool offer but I was wondering if BP runs native in OSX?

BP is the only cross platform painting app to work with windows, mac os 9 and mac os x (e.g zbrush is windows and os 9 only, and i can't even think of any linux 3d painting apps off the top fo my head).

Yes it does run in OS X, try the demo from maxons website if you want, just go to products, click on bodypaint, then choose demoversion from teh downloads.

you suppose? Other than the fact it has how many seperate images with seperate layers open, ples the geometry, and displaying that ll in 3D at the same time. All 3D paint apps are slower than PS, PS has to deal with very little compared to 3D painting apps. Mirai, Deeppaint, BP all much slower, simple fact of life.

PIT: "make me rich and handsome button"....whats up...my body paint has one of these...but i think its buggy can't get it to work!!
heh heh.

astrofish: i knew someone would ask me that...its just a personal thing really...i'm so familiar with photoshop and its workflow, gui etc...that bodypaint just isn't as much fun...yeah I can move palletes about and stuff...but its not the same...corel learn't this with painter a fantastic product but people workflow didn't go the same...became a bit of a stumbling block really...so they now seem to have photoshoped it... , we have yet to see if this will take off either. i just think BP could benefit from a bit more photoshopping, and less having users to even open up photoshop...but this is a personal thing.

hey beechedbum they most certinely do have a student edition of BP3D. However with the current pricing I think you should just spring for the non student version. that is if it will run with a student version of Cinema. I don't know if it will. But there is most certainely a student version.

or was last year anyway.

edit; kaiski no reason to get all uptight and all. it was only wishful thinking. I never in anyway suggested that anyother 3d program could do it faster.

Well, Raybrush mode is completely different from Sniper. Painting in Raybrush mode IS realtime. Sniper is a VERY FAST preview rendering. Less resolution, less geometry (lod), less accuracy. But you have to wait until the rendering is done. Same with raybrush mode IF the view is changed somehow. But without a doubt, it would be nice to have an automatic update of the raybrushed view if view depented changes are made.

Andreas

I am guilty of that as well Flingster,I am forever working out ways of making BP3D PS with a 3D view window  BP can be confusing until you work some bits out, most of the time I rip set up the UVs do the outline polys and fill polys and export to PS and then work in there :) .........actually if that is what a lot of people do anyway it would be nice if BP3D had the emphasis on un wrapping and setting up UVs :)

Just curious how many of you paint in BP3D as opposed to export to PS?

Flingster PS 8 will be released soon.....it has non destructive filtering for one, like adjustment layers:applause:

Ok, so my understanding is that you are saying that you keep flipping from BP to PS because you're more familiar with the PS interface, rather than that BP isn't able to do what you want it to?

As long as BP means that working with UV mapping is less of an ordeal than it is with C4D then I'll be happy...

Cheers - Steve
